Someone had made a comment in the previous thread concerning the size of the poster. I can say that there's a picture (not posted here!) of myself and Lilly standing next to that poster. I'm about 5'8" with the heels I had on, and the top of my head was pretty much in line with the tip of JLo's index finger on Alex's forehead. So it's a pretty good sized poster.

Well, while Lilly is lovely, MY pic...certainly makes Alex look even more gorgeous, in comparison. (I like to think I rely on inner beauty...)

Honey, none of us can compete with Alex. Besides the handsome, he's also prettier than most women I've ever seen... he gives JLo a run for her money...

Maybe not being the first out of the chute works in your favor sometimes....

BUP is one of the movies being launched by CBS Films, as is 'Extraordinary Measures' which opened on Friday. Frankly, having seen the promos and being a long time fan of Harrison Ford, I expected that the movie would do fairly well.

Apparently not. See below.

Weekend box office results

The weekend gross for 'Extraordinary Measures' was a mere $7 million, just a hair above the take for 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' fifth week. The local reviewer said the movie was fair enough, with perhaps a bit too much tugging at the heartstrings, but that Harrison Ford basically saved it from drowning in its own tears.

Why is this relevant to BUP? First of all, most of the movies doing well are either fantasy / escapist of some type (Avatar, Sherlock Holmes) or they're light-hearted real life stories ('It's Complicated' for example). BUP falls into that latter category, although some could argue it fits in both.

Secondly, with the kind of showing Extraordinary Measures has, if BUP does significantly better, that can only help Alex.

I do feel sorry for Harrison Ford, though. Having 'The Rock' as a tooth fairy in a tutu bringing in twice as much in an opening weekend has got to hurt.

Very interesting news. I thought it was switched with BUP because it did so well with test audiences. Of course, the advertising had to get the bodies in the seats in order for them to enjoy the movie. One of the reviews I read compared it to the "Disease Movie of the Week" back when networks made more "For TV" movies. Another review said "Not so much directed as processed".

Adds a lot of pressure to BUP and Alex... :sigh:

Yeah, there were similar sentiments in the local review here. Even so, the movie was heavily promoted on TV anyway. What I found surprising was that Brendan Frazier got higher billing than Harrison Ford. Go figure.

I didn't see it posted over here but I read on another ML site that BUP will have a commercial during the Super Bowl. Super Bowl is on CBS this year, so free advertising! Just one more reason to watch the Super Bowl besides musculey guys in tight pants getting all sweaty and of course the *E Trade commercials with the babies buying stocks!.

Not Alex, not BUP, but cool anyway, in regard to the SuperBowl...

Oooh, now that will be some GOOD exposure for the flick! All those men and their testosterone -- throwing some J-Lo in their face will be like squirting lighter fluid on a BBQ. Les is being crazy like a fox. :rolling:

Yeah, and throwing a little Alex in the faces of the females in the audience (and there are a fair few) isn't such a bad idea either!!
