Singing Mick

Hey Kids!
A question:
If Mick did sing in that band he was in when he met Coraline, who do you think he would have sounded like?
My choice is Elvis Presley.
To me his sexy,velvet chocolate tone is definitely Mick.
And to think I've never considered myself an Elvis fan!

It's already Elvis's birthday here in Aus, and my radio station is playing him.
That's what prompted me to post.
So, the question again, dear ones.
Who do do think Mick would have sounded like?

I think Mick would be more of a Jim Morrison............and I bet he was a fan, too, seeing as how he wanted to be Steve McQueen.

I was just wondering the same thing while watching the Ringer today! What he sounded like singing I mean. He certainly seems to have been singing some Elvis, since he suggested to Coraline to play her "Good Rockin Tonight". So I guess he's not just a jazz fan. Yeah, there was a warble in Elvis's singing that I cannot imagine with Mick, whose voice is soooooooooo smoooooooooth.
And in 1952, he's a little ahead of the Elvis curve. I would imagine he'd try to fashion his vocals more along the blues or smooth jazz molds...

I'm not sure who he'd sound like AJ, but I'm sure it would have been low and smooth, with just a hint of gravel.

OK - I have no idea who he'd sound like, but if ever there were a song for the man to sing, it would be the acoustic version of Eric Clapton's 'Layla'. If the velvet of his spoken voice translates into his singing one, that song would do me in.

I have to agree with DSR. Even though Clapton wasn't around to be an example for Mick, that doesn't mean that his voice couldn't sound like Clapton's. Not exactly, mind you, but enough to make you think of him...

He was a very popular jazz singer in the '50s (and beyond). Actually, if you watch The Ringer, the song "Star Eyes" that's playing when Mick comes to Coraline's house and finds her entertaining another man, is a Torme song.

Great idea, librarian. I found several of his original songs at youtube, and he fits Mick's way of singing how I imagine it.
