You really must get tired or watching me eat. Beth said.

Never. Mick said.

I still think coming to restaurants must make you uncomfortable.

Beth, it’s very important that you get enough to eat. Especially with after dinner activities.

Vampires are no different from regular men. She laughed. You take a girl out to dinner and you think there’s going to be sex.

Well I need to make sure you’re not hungry before sex. Mick said. I wouldn't want you to pass out.

"So if I don’t eat. I don’t get sex." Beth laughed "I want dessert! Death by chocolate."

As they were waiting for Beth’s cake they heard a very familiar voice.

Mick is that Josef? Beth whispered

Yes.

I can’t believe he’s in a restaurant. Doesn’t he have a chef to feed humans?

It must be someone’s six month anniversary.

Six month? Why wouldn’t he wait until a year? Beth wondered

Six months is a probationary period for an exclusive.

Probationary?

That’s enough time to see if they know how to keep him happy and get along with the other girls that live in the house.

So all exclusives live with him?

Yes.

Why? Doesn’t he trust them?

Of course I do Beth. It’s about four a.m. feedings. Josef said.

Josef! Beth said. I didn’t know you were standing there. She glared at Mick. You should have told me.

Beth. Let me introduce you to my friend. Tangie Blossom this is Beth Turner.

Tangie what an unusual name. Beth commented.

It’s short for Tangerine. My parents are insane.

I’m just plain old Elizabeth.

I’d kill for that name. All of my sisters are named after fruits.

At least it’s different. Beth laughed.

That’s true. Tangie said. Josef could you excuse me for a moment?

Of course sweetheart.

Beth do you know where the ladies room is here? Tangie asked.

I’ll show you. I’ll be right back.

As they watched the women head out Mick asked.

Josef you’re over four hundred. Why do they go to the bathroom in pairs?

It’s female bonding. And to talk about us.

They never met each other before two minutes ago.

Doesn’t matter.

When they got to the ladies room Tangie checked the stalls to make sure they were empty.

Beth are you new to feeding?

Very new. Why?

Since your skin is so fair your marks are showing.

I know. I’ve been trying to cover them with my hair. Beth said.

There’s makeup you can use.

Really?

Let me write the names down for you. Tangie said.

Have you done this a while? Beth asked.

Yes. But I’ve been exclusive for six months. As a matter of fact tonight’s my anniversary.

Congratulations.

Thank you. I better get back. Josef hates to be kept waiting.

Tangie don’t you think it’s weird they take us to restaurants?

No. If I’m well fed. He’s well fed.

I’ve never heard of these cosmetics. Where do you get them?

I’ll write down the address. You just have to go past La Brea.

How convenient. Beth thought.

The ladies went back to their vampires. Josef escorted Tangie to their table and ordered champagne.

Beth. What did Tangie want to talk to you about? Mick asked.

Girl stuff. Why didn’t we celebrate our six month anniversary?

Because it hasn’t happened yet.

It was yesterday.

It’s tomorrow. Mick insisted.

We got together on the 26th. Tomorrow is the 28th.

That’s right. 182 days is six months.

Nobody celebrates that way. Beth said.

Vampires do.

That's insane. But I guess I'll have to learn to count vampire style.

Catching up on all that I missed while on vacation - and I love this look 6 months into Mick & Beth's relationship (with a little 'help' from Josef & Tangie). but this exchange cracked me up:

Ah, Moonlight Math strikes again...

Tangie is so sweet--she's helping Beth with makeup! I liked this story a lot.

The return of the Moonlight math!!! I love it.
Tangie is so nice to give Beth advice on the make up, and I love the probation time, makes sense in a way. I'm not sure Tangie knew she was on probation, though, might have made her uncomfortable. Better she sees it as just another anniversary.

Aggie - I had to bring Josef and Tangie here. I don't have Mick/Beth confidence. But I'm glad you enjoyed vampire math.

alle - Tangie felt bad for Beth. It's tough to be new. At this point Tangie doesn't really know if Beth is a freshie, freshie with benefits or a girlfriend but either way she needs to cover those marks.

francis - You are absolutely right Tangie had no clue she was on probation. She would have been a nervous wreck. She's been accepted by Josef and the girls and she just thinks it's the first big anniversary.
