The Elephant Project

Post by redwinter101 »

Some of you may remember that Alex participated in a photoshoot for The Elephant Project, a charity that raises funds for Alzheimer's research, while he was working on Three Rivers.

I wanted to let you all know that the photo (and beanie baby) are being auctioned on ebay this week. Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 500wt_1154

Please note that the pack includes a note from the Alzheimer's Association confirming that all funds raised will go to support them.

I have no affiliation with the project or the auction, but this is a cause very close to my heart and it would be fantastic if they raised as much as possible.

I don't know if I could afford it but I'm watching the bid.

There are lots of stars who opted to be a part of this, God bless them. :) From what I can see, Katherine Moennig (Miranda) and Justina Machado (Pam) from Three Rivers are also participants.

From Twitter:

ElephantProject Alex O'Loughlin fans are THE BEST! His auction has reached $990! That's almost double our last highest auction! Can it break $1000?!?!

Um, there are about 2 1/2 hours left if anyone wants to go ahead and jump in on the bidding. :snicker: :yahoo:

Actually, it's kind of surprising how many celebrities don't have even one bid. And there are only 5 out of 52 celebrities that have bids more than $100. I must be old too. There are a lot of names I don't recognize.

Go here for the full list.

Thanks for the list, rbill... apparently the auction wasn't too well advertised for so MANY of em not to have bids...
There are an awful lot I haven't heard of either, but I'm not sure it's because they are all that well known, necessarily.
Tho who is Summer Glau? She's next in line behind Alex in the bidding...

I hadn't heard of her either but she had a pretty good TV pedigree of things I haven't seen on imdb.

Firefly
The Unit
4400
Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles
Dollhouse

Wow, I've never seen a single one of those, tho I've heard of some of them.

There are some really well known stars on that auction with no bids... you'd think the stars themselves, or their PEOPLE, would at least place a couple bids, for looks, ya know...

Wow--Alex fans are awesome! I'm not surprised that his auction is doing so well, but I'd love to see others doing better.

By the way, Summer Glau is a wonderful actress--she plays very quirky and interesting characters. I highly recommend Firefly, Dollhouse, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I'm shocked at how low some of those star's bids are. The only three that have seen any real action are Alex, Summer and David Boreanz. That really is a shame. Even Tina Fey is way down there. :( I'm happy to see that Alex is doing so well but this is not good for the project.

I'm betting that there are a couple people waiting for the last minute to make their bids for Alex's - that it will go over $1000.

Alex's elephant went for the $990. Summer Glau's went for over $1300! :gasp:

Looks like I might have jinxed Alex. But very impressive - for both of them. I wonder who elses might have gone up there in the end.

I won one signed by Rose Byrne. I picked her because because I'm a huge Star Wars fan and she played Dorme' in Attack of the Clones. Hers only went for $24.99. A lot of them have gone off on low bids unfortunately for the charity. :sigh:

Yeah, I wish more of them had been bid way up, for the sake of the charity. Alex's fans did their part, certainly. :ghug: Too bad more of those stars don't have such a supportive fanbase. I love to see the positive things that Alex's fans do. It helps to make up for the awful things that a small percentage of his fans do, that can be soooooo embarrassing... :blushing: :sigh:
