I always pre-order and it usually works out fine.
I saw a contest giving away a copy of the BUP as a prize. All publicity is good publicity

I pre-ordered from Barnes and Noble and like those who pre-ordered from Amazon, I didn't get the DVD today. They're promising I'll have it tomorrow, but right now, it's in transit somewhere in the wilds of New Jersey......

Re: The Back-Up Plan, part 10 - SPOILERS
Oh these people are MORONS! (Amazon)
I don't know why I continue to order from them... I'm really gonna have to remove their bookmark (even though I've had so long it still has "Earth's Biggest Bookstore" as the bookmark title). One Christmas, I ordered a DVD player for my parents (when they were the "new" thing) and had it shipped directly to them since we were going there for Christmas. When they opened it up on Christmas morning, out popped like 10,000 tiny plastic toy soldiers.
Believe me, the look of confusion on my parents' faces was priceless.
So, I just now went to Amazon to find out why, when I went downstairs to get my mail, no DVD. Apparently because I pre-ordered Trevor's book at the same time as the DVD, they are going to hold my DVD until the book comes out in February 2011.
So now I have to go figure out how to change my order. Wish me luck. They'll probably ship me a home pregnancy kit this time (attempt at bad, very bad, BUP-related joke).

Re: The Back-Up Plan, part 10 - SPOILERS
I just cancelled the Amazon order and ran down the street to Best Buy to pick one up.
Ha! Take that Amazon! Try to send me your dastardly toy soldiers & pregnancy kits now!
Should have done that in the first place, but I always think it's more convenient to have it shipped to your doorstep rather than have to run out. Of course, with so many shipments gone awry, I should have learned my lesson by now... it's just an illusion of convenience.
Anyway, I am totally supposed to be writing my butt off right now for work, but I am going to indulge for a couple of hours and watch this since I've been waiting, waiting, waiting
to see this flick!
(I went straight from the front door to the DVD player
.) It's loaded and ready to go!
and I can do that "work thingy" later tonight
.
Although I don't know how to do the automated capping, I can pop it in the computer afterward and manually grab a couple of screencaps of the deleted scenes if you want... unless someone else has already posted them? I'll pop in after my "private" viewing (ahhhh!) ... or maybe during if I get too excited about something
. Ta!
ETA: OK, I didn't even make it 10 seconds into the thing... what is this pretentious wanna-be-Warner-Bros./20th-Century-Fox fanfare/logo for "CBS Films"??? Seems a little over-the-top for the new kid on the block.

O.M.G.
He was just... absolutely adorable! Who wouldn't want Stan? How did he remain available for so long? Was it the cheese stink? And how has "cheese muse" not made it into our lexicon (or fanfic
) around here? And p*-partner? Inquiring minds want to know....
Alex found a part that suited him perfectly... and it was nice to see him show off his comedic talents onscreen (while not being a douchebag
). And I loved the friend - she reminds me of my friend Mindy. And Linda Lavin was a riot!
(If I'm being truly honest, although the Alex scenes were great, I think the wedding scene is my favorite.) And I actually like J Lo in this pic. And then, to top it off, to finally see those khaki pants photos "move"...
. And how on earth could you possibly say, "We can't have sex" to that man? (although I understand the proceeding to have an orgasm part
)
And.... And... And....
.
Suffice to say,
Also, I think the deleted scenes have already been posted... I've seen pics of the juice-boxes-on-the-bench scene and that was one of them.
The 'making of' special feature is funny and so interesting to see some of the sets and interaction. Here's some of my faves: Alex does one of his cute little "watch this" (wink) gestures. J Lo says he's a "really, really good actor" (that can't hurt). Robert Klein mispronounces Alex's name (O'Lofflin
) but does a funny riff on the vagina/ultrasound scene. The pet shop chick nailed that location: hipster emo downtown NY space cadet world.
The best friend actress says of seeing the actors mulling around before the wedding scene, "I looked at them and thought, 'Broken hips.'"
AND: my favorite Alex quote: "I see Nuts's all over the place... I don't have my own Nuts."

I take it you enjoyed the movie, HotMicks?
Yeah--I have to say that I had a very similar experience when I saw the movie in the theater....
I bought my copy tonight, but I won't get a chance to watch it till tomorrow... I'm really looking forward to enjoying the movie again. And the extra features!
