I must admit that I have never once, in watching H50, seen Mick. Once y'all point it out, I get the reference, but my mind never goes there with McG.
He just seems so very different from Mick...
Tho still sexy. And all.

If you read a lot of books you are considered well read. But if you watch a lot of TV, you're not considered well viewed. Lilly Tomlin
When others mention it, I get what they are saying, but I guess I look at these certain poses or mannerisms and think that it's just Alex. Like any actor, he is going to carry certain traits from project to project. The things that I use to think were inherently Mick-like when I watched ML, like perhaps the furrowed brow, the soulful eyes, etc, I've come to understand as being purely Alex. He has an arsenal of wonderful things that he carries from show to show.
Well said Fleur de Lisa that is how I see it too. Alex has this uncanny ability to become the character he is given.
I believe Alex puts a bit of himself in each of his characters in order to bring them to life and to "lift them off the page." That is what we find familiar and respond to thinking we are seeing Mick when we are actually seeing traits of Alex.
And what wonderful traits they are.
I think it's natural that whatever character you meet first becomes a reference point for everything else. It's not that I'm looking for it, but every once in a while, I heard Mick in Dr. Andy's concerned voice, and now I see fleeting glimpses of him in Steve. Of course, it's what Alex brings to the role, the choices he makes as an actor, but I knew Mick before I "knew" Alex and I still feel his presence from time to time.
