Lucy's Champagne Challenge #126 "28 Days" (PG)
Champagne Challenge #126 - Keep It Short
February. Short month. So, let's keep it brief.
Champagne Challenge? Give it to us in 100 to 500 words.
Theme? You can go with "28 days," or whatever else in the ML universe catches your fancy, as long as you don't go over the word limit.
That's all.
PG rated
28 days…..
She hadn’t seen him thru relation-worn jaundiced eyes; she had envisioned him thru the eyes of love.
Her eyes of love filtered out all the risk aversion components like . . . . . could he face her reality?
There were numerous stereotypes about starting new relationships with men you “worked” with, age old admonitions to “Not play where you work”, yet the undeniable pull of his hazel eyes, the curl at his collar, the swagger in his walk…..these were all her right reasons to look past the naysayer’s jealous advice.
Mick had hung back, sheathed in tension, anxious and love-shy. She promised to herself to speak up next week, and that became the week after. His humanity had introduced more advantages, and their picnic together left her awash in a desire so visceral, so in bloom that the events of those next 48 hours did not feel tangible.
Another week passed and her instinctual emotions drove her to pursue him. After all, they had argued and they had spent far too many nights apart.
On the 28th day, sentient of her immutable physical circumstance she dialed the phone, “Mick?” She could read his voice when he mumbled a “Humm?” back to her.
She tangibly fostered a romantically withering obstacle to scoring an “I do” from Mick, yet first she had to face him, it would test them and she’d see if love was a vapor lost at dawn.
“Come by, I’ll be up” he was relaxed, so unlike the Mick she knew. She flew there, knowing if she wavered she’d burn precious time between them.
He waited, hanging on the door frame as if to say he saw her first. They embraced and savored the long lost feelings of each other.
Before she could read her she confessed, “I love you, forever” and he emotionally replied, an unshed tear in his eye, “I love you too. What have we been doing to each other?” His eyes softened, the corners of his perfect mouth nearly trembled.
Pulling out of the embrace, they ambled to the sofa, where they sat facing each other at opposite ends, quite like their rapport had been latterly. Her mind flew back to the morning she had missed meeting him, the look on his face when he found her scantily clad just falling out of bed.
“Mick, I’m pregnant, it’s Josh’s from that night before he was murdered”
Now she had his complete attention, didn’t she?

Oh!!! That's a great idea, and the way Beth told Mick was fabulous. All her insecurity, her anxiousness makes sense now.
How will he react? Great short, it makes me think.

Wow! That's a really great idea for the challenge. It's a lot for Beth and Mick to deal with.

Man... that's gonna be some conversation.
But I think Mick will be okay with it. After he gets used to the idea.

Mick's been "broadsided" by Josh, one more time.....and for Beth it's a lesson of you can run but you cannot hide.....Josh's swimmers were determined....cassysj wrote:Wow! That's a really great idea for the challenge. It's a lot for Beth and Mick to deal with.

Yup, considering this was WAY before Mick gave her his "family" monologue she's got a pair of shaking knees right now.allegrita wrote:Man... that's gonna be some conversation. But I think Mick will be okay with it. After he gets used to the idea.

I am going to have to consult the magic 8-Ball to figure out the next direction for them..............However, as a couple Mick and Beth's possibilities are endless.

Wow -- did not see that coming. How will Mick react? It's Beth and it's Beth's baby -- he will love it.
