Thanks, francisfrancis wrote:Sniffle. That was awesome. Heartbreaking and heartwarming. I loved the perspective of Mick's father.

What a wonderful, wonderful look at Mick's homecoming and family!
I expect Mick probably was able to manipulate his mother with those eyes and that smile. We tend to play to our strengthsand it just stands to reason he learned to use those assets early.
Unfortunately, the trauma he experienced in war was faint to what he would encounter a bit further down the road.
Thank you for this glimpse into Mick's last human decade before he was Turned.
Superb!

Thanks so much,Baywingerbaywinger wrote:I had just a little bit of actual internet time. Thought a good place to start would be in the recommendations and saw PNWgal's mention of this one. I LOVE the old war fics, and this one just hit all kinds of wonderful.
Love the new character point of view as well as the dead in the black characterization and subtleties of references to the family, the time, the bit-of-a-bad-boy that only a father can relate to, the family anxiety, gosh--the whole darn thing.
Awesome, awesome job.
