I haven't met you, but I do know what you and 'Fleurette' can do together ....but how do you see this as their way of worming out?wpgrace wrote:mwj01 wrote:ITA Lisa! And I hope CBS promotes the hell out of it! I'm not familiar with CM, but surely his serial killer will have depth and some sympathetic qualities. Alex has such range; it's just got to!
I think playing a bad guy on this show may, while NEVER shaking Mick, give him exposure and fans among male viewers... ML was clearly mostly a woman audience... so if he can double his fan base in one fell swoop, more the better for him...
And they seem to promote that show a lot... so guessing they will with AOL too... hoping anyway....
But my big fear, and i do have one-- y'all have met me right?-- is that this is them worming out of their contract with him... they couldn't agree on a starring role so they all settled for this...
In which case, Fleurette and I need to fire up our Ice-Skating, Swimming, Crime-Fighter script again....

Please, don't even mention that possibility.
I would like to go by Alex's words:
"Currently I am moving into a position where we have narrowed down the projects that I have genuine interest in, and hope to have reached a decision on something very soon!"
Keep fingers crossed

Well now... first of all, I have MORE than proven beyond any shadow of any reasonable doubt held my even moderately intelligent and sane people that a) I know NOTHING about Hollywood or actors and b) I am a total crybaby....
So no shuddering as a result of any stoopid thing that I say....
But his deal with CBS was "talent holding".... so if they put him in as this guest star... and still don't have him signed up for anything MORE... and we all want MORE... in fact we all want the full deal, starring role in his own show.... are they now done with the holding deal?
That was all I meant to mope over... but again, consider the source of the whining here... me.
And I can assure you the Universe does not react with any interest to my thoughts... my kids still won't clean their rooms, the dog keeps vomiting on my new carpet, and my husband has gained another 15 pounds in spite of my attempt to guilt him into dieting...

Grace, take the fact that he is on the Forbes list, the fact that he has been the poster child for a question in TVguide about which actor we want to have their own show, and the fact that he has refurnished his My Space page. Take the fact that he now has a guest role in a well known drama (a role that will be quite big, but not recurring because I expect them to get the killer in the end, as in every other episode). All of that combined means to me, that CBS wants to put him out there in the open but has further plans for him. All of this TV guide blurb reeks like a promotion stunt. I am sure that they know exactly what they are putting out in publick when.

Re: Exclusive: 'Moonlight' vamp Alex O'Loughlin returns to CBS
Well, very often in television they don't like paying an actor for not doing anything. So if you already have someone under a development contract and you have a show that needs new guest stars every week, they will often use that person so he/she is doing something for the money you've paid them for the contract. That's just smart business. Now that doesn't mean they might not find a vehicle for Alex I hope they do. Also if you ever watched any WB now CW programming a lot of the television actors would wind up in Warner Brothers movies, just about using the stable of actors you have.darkstarrising wrote:

My company doesn't do development deals with actors, we produce or distribute television shows. But one time we used the same actor for several specials and a series because he was so reliable and easy to work with.
But let's all think happy thoughts for Alex and being in the public eye again is always a good thing.

Re: Exclusive: 'Moonlight' vamp Alex O'Loughlin returns to CBS
Great discussion, ladies.
I am in agreement on several fronts: first and foremost, it does make fiscal sense for CBS to put him in something, no matter what that might be, so that they feel that they are getting some kind of return on their investment.
To consider: The deal he is signed to, is not your run-of-the-mill, let's sign anybody kind of thing. It is exclusive, they want his talent--they also added to that contract movie offerings as well as the opportunity for him to develop something of his own. Granted, that might have fallen through, but that is a pretty solid deal they gave him. Which leads me to believe that they know that this guy is worth it. They know the fan base, the fact that he can act, his show won a People's Choice award, he won Sexiest person ever to walk the planet (my way of looking at it) in TV Guide. He has experience doing films. These are all tremendous assets that put him heads and shoulders (that one is for you phee) above a lot of the pack.
I also believe that he wants to work, they want him to be seen--hence the role on CM. He has stated that he is looking at different opportunities--if nothing else, I will take him at his word.
And if for some reason, CBS completely f*cks up and loses him---someone else will snatch him up.

I too believe that CBS knows what gem they have in their (undeserving if I may add) hands and they will use Alex.
I also think Alex will decide soon on his new show and tell us all about it

Thanks dc--I am just trying to make sense of all this, and sometimes my brain kicks in and actually allows me to do that!
It's difficult when we don't know all the variables that are at play, so, it makes me calmer to just take the facts and look at them in a purely concrete way. Ask me tomorrow, and you may see a different me---one that you'll have to peel off the ceiling if anything contradicts what I just said!!

Re: Exclusive: 'Moonlight' vamp Alex O'Loughlin returns to CBS
When I first read the article about AOL being on Criminal Minds I was so excited and read it so fast that I initially missed that it was for one episode. In that moment, I was thinking it made sense that it was being announced that Alex would star in the Criminal Minds spin-off since he was working with Mark Gordon, per his contract. Plus, that's been widely speculated since his holding contract was announced. What do we know about this possible CM spin-off? Sorry, I have no energy to research at the moment.
Has a pilot been green-lighted? Has it been cast? Is it possible the series could be told from the POV of one very HOT serial killer? Could Alex once again portray a serial killer who likes to shed his clothing?
Sorry. What if his appearance in CM is meant to be a springboard for the spin-off?
Although the guest spot is awesome, I just really have to believe there’s more going on.

None of us really have a clue... and I bet for many of us we've never cared about this level of detail before... Lord knows I haven't...
Not sure I ever want to again either... I mean this has been a thrill ride, as we say, and I'm committed... but those people out there don't do what seems to make sense to the rest of us... They're kinda like prettier versions of the folks in D.C.....

I confess, I hadn't heard anything about a CM spin-off. The only spin-off I'd heard of that has apparently been green-lit is the NCIS one.
