Mick is SO MAD at Josef when he comes in to find the freshie party! He doesn't hear the loneliness in Josef's voice... he can't sympathize. He's too focused on the immediate issues. Josef is trying to reconstruct his life.

And right away Josef wants to go to his office -- to reconnect with the one time in his life he wasn't lonely.

I don't know... I always interpreted this as Mick's way of dealing with his fear. He already thought he lost Josef once tonight. I think he is scared of losing Josef.
