Board Upgrade: The forum is closing NOW!!!!

UPDATE: The date of the upgrade has been set! We will close the board around 6pm (Pacific Time, UTC -8) of Saturday, September 3rd, and you should expect MLA to be unavailable at least through the end of Sunday, September 4th, and possibly Monday the 5th as well. This is a big upgrade and it will require a lot of checking to make sure everything is working properly after it's done.

If you haven't yet registered there, PLEASE do so as soon as possible so you won't be stuck without a place to camp while MLA is down. And if you are registered but haven't logged in recently, please do so sooner than later, just to be sure you have access.

Hi everyone,

Just want to give you a heads-up that we will be upgrading the board software in a few weeks. Since this is a major upgrade, the board may be shut down for as long as two days so that we can check everything carefully and make sure the board is running smoothly, before we reopen. We haven't set an exact date for the upgrade, and we promise to give you several days' notice so that everyone has a chance to get settled in at the Motel.

Don't worry if you haven't registered at The Motel yet. We will open it in advance of the upgrade, so that everyone will have plenty of time to make sure they have a nice place to stay while MLA is offline.

For our members who use the Glossy skins, I'm sorry to tell you that they will not survive the upgrade. We nursed them along as far as we could, because they were so popular... but alas, they were never upgraded to work with the later versions of phpBB.

GA - I was a glossy lover from way back. I finally started using Aero Black and I LOVE it. It's very similar in function and appearance. You might want to give it a try.

GA - I'm holding on to my Glossy blue until the last possible moment but I did a test run of Aero Black today and it seems okay. Avalon Green is a little light for my eyes but also seems similar to me.

We've been on the lookout for some other alternatives to the Glossies and will keep looking after the upgrade. Believe me, I understand -- I used to adore my Glossy Red.

Thank you, Carol and Lilly, for the suggestions. I'm currently trying out the subsilver that had been previously recommended by Pgal. I'm going to keep it on the rest of the night and then try your suggestions for a day each. I'm sure I'll find something I can live with. Who knows, I might fall in love with a new skin we acquire after the update.

I never changed the skin from the original layout that showed up. The two blue colors on the top. SO, what version is that?
