The Beach (G) - Challenge #135

Post by MickLifeCrisis »

I don't own Moonlight, any of its characters or its dialogue. Thanks Moonlighter for the polishing.

The Beach

“There’s someone else. There has been for awhile. I care about him a lot. And I think it’s time he figured out what he’s going to do about it.”

“Okay, fair enough. But I don’t think it will take long to figure out.”

“So did you get enough to eat? What did you like best?”

“I liked it all! Much better than the hotdog I had earlier.”

“You ate a boardwalk hotdog when you knew I was bringing a picnic?”

“A boardwalk hotdog with everything, as a matter of fact. No regrets, remember? Now, don’t give me that look. It was a wonderful picnic, thank you. Here, let me help you pack up. Then would you like to go for a walk on the beach?”

“I’d love to!”

“Okay, that’s the last of it. C’mon.”

“Your hand is so warm. It’s nice. I mean… not that it wasn’t nice before. It was… I mean… well, you know what I mean, right?”

“It’s okay, Beth. I know what you mean. And it is nice. To be warm, to walk in the sun with you – it’s a day I’ll never forget.”

“I wish I had called you sooner. We could have spent almost a week together already.”

“Hey, none of that now. Come here; look at me. You took the time you felt you needed. This is a day for no regrets, right?”

“Right. No regrets.”

“Carpe diem – seize the day.”

“Mick, does ‘seize the day’ include getting sunburn on your face?”

Another sweet tale, MLC. :smooch:

And this is just the crux of it for Mick, and I love it. :cloud9:

Lovely!

:suncloud: Mick wants to experience everything that being human has to offer. Bring on the hot dogs, and the sleeping, and the pain, and the sunburns!

Thanks, MLC! :flowers: :hearts:

This is lovely. Just lovely. So full of hope... and tinged with sadness, because they didn't get the time they so wanted. :hankie: But at least they had that day. That beautiful, perfect day. Sunburn and all. :cloud9:

Just lovely!

Mick is such a sweetie! No regrets, no apologies, just enjoy what they have right here, right now.

Thank you!

He really had a sunburn later, or did I imagine that?
Great story. I sometimes wondered what happened later that day because next we see Beth at home when the sun is already down and Mo calls.

Mick had so much - fun isn't the right word - contentment out of being human.

Lovely MLC!! Mick is so sweet and kind here, I want to hug him! ( But then I always do. :snicker: )I wish we could have this attitude everyday in our lives... :cloud9:

I also wish we could have this dialogue's longer version,...but then it wouldn't fit the challenge. :reading:

Thanks everyone! :ghug: So happy you liked it!

Francis, I also think Mick had sunburn on his face when he went to see Josef after the picnic, even though Josef said he looked "tan". That's why I threw that in there.

Maggatha, this one was hard to cut down to 250 words. I know it's a little jumpy for a conversation, but I have a hard time turning down sweet MickBeth moments. :blushing: And I always want to hug Mick, too. :cloud9:

MLC, this is just the kind of thing that they would have said to each other!! The touches of awkwardness (Beth stumbling about how warm Mick's hand is) is just so real as she tries to express her feelings. :hearts:

I agree. Their whole conversation on the beach (on the show) was awkward. There was a wealth of subtext there, but the words weren't coming out well. I can imagine there being a bunch of awkward silences in the midst of the conversation MLC "transcribed"... but then, toward the end, the silences became more comfortable. More companionable. They began to feel their old ease, and they even teased each other a little. That's what I like so much about it... it feels like them. :hearts:

So?? Does that mean we will have the full version of it sometime soon?? :hearts: :hearts: :flowers: :flowers: MLC?? :flowers: It didn't feel jumpy at all, it was like...tasting a cake and ....wanting more!

This is just perfect MLC.

I have always loved that moment on the beach and wanted it extended. This interpretation more than works for me.

Really should have been thinking about sunblock

This is so sweet. Back in 52 Mick didn't have to be concerned with sunblock.. :snicker: The two of them just enjoying each other and the gift they have
