wow, Alle. Those larger shots are sensational!!!

Has there ever been any consensus about the color of his eyes? Even when I see these amazing close ups, I can never be sure whether they're grey, green or hazel.

Alex has said himself (and as you have said, we've got tons of proof that he's telling the truth!) that his eyes change color depending on what he's wearing and the colors of his environment. My dad's eyes are similar, although they are not as brilliant and the color change isn't as extreme as Alex's.

As for what to call this phenomenon...? Some people say that the term "hazel" can only refer to eyes that change from golden, to green, to brown... but Alex's eyes definitely change from gray, to blue, to green. I just did a quick google and I couldn't get a good "definition" of whether this range of colors can truly be called "hazel" since it's missing the brown element. But I just go with "hazel" for short. :teeth:

Oh, and gorgeous. Definitely gorgeous. :melts: :happysigh:

Maybe he has a realllllly uggo pic of himself tucked in the back of his closet that keeps getting uglier as he gets prettier....

Fascinating. They definitely look green in the bottom shot, but grey-blue in the top one. Positively infuriating for a writer. :snicker:

And have to agree with grace, he really does have the most amazingly beautiful eyes.

I like how Alex described his eye color as "Hazeley-Blue...but they change color" :snicker:

I think it has something to do with the marbled combination of the goldish brown at the center, the gray blue around that and the darker blue flecks throughout and around the edges. Depending on the light and the dilation of his eyes they range from dark gray, light gray, green, hazel and blue...depending on the distribution and blend of the color patterns.
Or like someone once said "if you can't tell what color Alex's eyes are" at any given time "just look at his shirt"...they almost mach exactly 99% of the time :winky:
His environment effects them as well. Now that he is in Hawaii surrounded by blue skies and water they look varying shades blue most of the time. But back in the ML days he was around a lot of black and brown colors and he was indoors or it was night a great deal of the time. So his eyes looked mostly Hazel or green or a dark grayish blue. When Mick was on the beach they appeared a dark gray blue so go figure
His eyes are simply a beautiful phenomenon unlike any other I have ever seen. :hearts:

Well with the exception of my Grandfather...he had brown eyes with a bright blue ring around the out side. COOL!

Alle!!!!
Ahem, forgive my exuberance but that first 'eye' pic is one of my favorites and my goodness, it is stunning.

I just call 'em Alex eyes. One of a kind and gorgeous.

Okay, so in the "you-might-be-a-moonlightaholic-if" category, I asked an eye doctor (M.D.) about this. He gave me a very technical explanation involving physics and biology, but in laymen's terms it goes something like this. There are two layers of pigmentation that determine the color of people's eyes. For most people, the layer of color in the front is rather thick or opaque, so their eye color is whatever that front layer is. For an exceptional few, the front layer of pigmentation is such that you can get a glimpse of the back layer of color. The rest is physics (specifically, optics). People who have this (extraordinary) trait will appear to have different eye color, depending on the specific lighting conditions, which includes all sorts of stuff, like type of light, color saturation, whah whah, whah whah, whah whah... (Sorry, but I got distracted thinking of a certain someone's eyes as the good doctor went into ever more detail.) So FWIW, that's what the doctor said (or at least what I remember of his explanation).

As for me, I still like to think of it as part of Alex's magic.
