Ode to the Shoulder Tats

Two works of art upon his shoulders sit,
A strange dichotomy of views enshrined—
Technology, and all that goes with it;
The bliss of letting go the rational mind.

The Geiger tattoo sits upon the right,
A left-brain vision of postmodern rage—
That face, victor and victim of the fight,
Enhanced and ruined in this cyber age.



Upon the left, serenity and peace;
The lotus holds Enlightenment secure—
The spirit soars, the mind’s sharp torments cease;
Released, the soul discovers what is pure.

Of muscles rippling under all that ink.)
