Lucifer tries many different ways to tempt Brian into doing his bidding!

Lucifer had been watching the boy for five years now and he was very impressed. Dragos had done well for once. It was a shame that he let petty base desires get in the way of their ultimate goal. Perhaps this Brian Petzer would prove most useful in his plans, but he would have make arrangements.
Josef sat with his friend Emma Thibodaux sipping a glass of brandy. Emma was a Haitian Voodoo Priestess who had as of late helped he and Mick out on a lot of……unusual circumstances. Josef liked to make sure that she didn’t have need for anything.
“So are you finally getting used to California Emma?” He asked.
“The weather suits me better, but I don’t much like talk of earthquakes!” She said laying her glass down beside her. Josef laughed.
“Don’t worry about that Emma. That doesn’t happen too often. I think you of all people will be more prepared than most”
Emma laughed out loud.
“If you talking about my soul Josef Kostan, I am prepared, but I ain’t in no hurry to go to the other side!” She said with smile. “But it’s you I worry about” She said suddenly serious.
“Me? Why worry about me?” Josef asked.
“Dark things surround you and those close to you.” She said picking her glass up again.
“Emma, that kind of comes with the lifestyle you know?” Josef said with chuckle.
“Don’t get cocky Josef! Evil is on the way!” She said sharply. Josef stood up with a smile.
“It always is Emma. It always is” He said taking his leave. Emma heard his car pull away and shook his head.
‘That boy is foolish” she murmured to herself.
Brian had just finished a call when his assistant knocked on his door.
“Mr. Petzer, you have a visitor” She said in her quiet voice. Brian looked down at his calendar.
“I have no more appointments today” Brian said shaking his head.
“I know sir, but he’s come all the way from Vienna. He said he is a friend of Helmut’s?”
“Send him in” Brian said standing up.
The man who walked in was tall. 6’4 inches tall in fact Brian calculated. His pale blonde hair hung in perfect waves around his face. He was in a word beautiful. Brian knew he was a vampire and most likely an extremely old one. Brian held out his hand.
“Brian Petzer. What can I do for you?” Brian said motioning for the man to take a chair.
“Mr. Petzer, I am Lucian Von der Bryn. It is a pleasure to meet you” He said shaking Brian’s hand and taking a seat in front of him. “I’m very sorry to come to you unexpectedly, but you came so highly recommended by Helmut”
Brian nodded his head.
“I have only just arrived to the United States after a very long time abroad, and well…..I have quite a large income…..uh…..as I understand it, there are tax laws in this country. Quite formidable ones” He said cautiously.
“Yes. I understand. Large amounts of capital must be accounted for in the U.S. How much capital are you speaking of?”
“Roughly, a little under 12 billion” he said watching Brian carefully. Brian showed neither alarm nor surprise at the amount.
“Of course.” Brian said sliding the necessary paperwork in front of him. “You will need to fill out these forms and retain the services of an attorney. The transfer will take approximately 7 business days.”
“Well I must say Mr. Petzer, I thought this would be a rather long drawn out process. I’m impressed.” Lucius said. “I just purchased a home so here is my address and a number where I can be reached if anything arises” He said sliding the paper in front of him.
“Thank you sir. I will be in touch” Brian said dismissively.
Brian watched the man leave his office and wondered what the hell he was up to.

Brian walked into Josef’s office.
“Sir, I think we have a problem.” Brian said closing the door behind him.
“What’s up Brian?” Josef asked looking up from his files.
“Lucifer just came to my office.” He said simply.
Josef quickly looked up.
“As in red, horns carrying a pitchfork?” Josef asked.
“Actually carrying a briefcase sir wearing Hugo Boss”
‘How do you know that it was him?” Josef began to ask but upon seeing the look on Brian’s face his dismissed the question. “Of course you’re sure. Ok, what did he want?”
“He said that Helmut recommended me which I doubt and he wanted to convert a little under 12 billion dollars into the market”
“And you know what is said about something being too good to be true?” Josef said.
“Yes sir. I will talk to Balthazar” Brian said walking out of the office.
Josef picked up his phone and called Isabelle.
Lucifer walked all around his new home loving everything about it. The furnishings were lavish. Expensive paintings hung all over the walls. The large floor to ceilings windows had a commanding view of the city of angles. How fitting that title was Lucifer thought to himself. Now it was time to make himself known to Los Angeles.
Balthazar listened intently to Brian before asking.
“And you are without a doubt that it was him?”
“Yes I am sir.” Brian said
“Brian you must understand that Lucifer is the most dangerous of our kind. If he is indeed here, and I believe he is, what he wants will most likely be mankind. Tell me, do you believe in God Brian?” Balthazar asked.
“I have no experience with religion.” Brian replied.
“Pity that.” Balthazar said shaking his head.
“Why is that sir?”
“Faith has triumphed time and again against evil. It is the reason for mankind’s longevity. Their overwhelming ability to keep faith. It is only when one gives up that faith that they become vessels for evil. That is always the way.”
“Are you saying that I must find faith?” Brian asked confused.
“No. I am saying you must first understand it” Balthazar said finally.
Brian walked away not sure what he should do. How does one go about understanding religion? With all the wars currently being fought in the name of religion, it seemed that man knew little about it as well. He would give it some thought them decide on a course of action.
Brian handled Lucifer’s accounts placing all of his funds into overseas
investments far away from Kostan Industry holdings.
Three weeks had passed and Brian had heard nothing from Lucifer so perhaps what he wanted was financial help after all.
Isabelle read the article and laid it down with disgust. On the front of the Arts and Leisure section of the paper was a large photo of Lucifer out on the town with Edward Farmington and Coraline. In a small amount of time, Lucifer had found a way to become acquainted with two of the most questionable vampires in all of Los Angeles. Coraline for all her claims of being a changed woman and her hopelessly obsessed husband who would follow her to the very bowels of Hell, were now apart of Lucifer’s inner sanctum! No possible good could come of this.
Nicole retrieved the invitation with the other mail. She turned it over in her hands. No return address was listed but it was addressed to Brian. She was curious, but she respected her husband’s privacy and she was sure that it was Kostan Industries related. Brian carefully opened the envelope and the read it’s contents. Lucifer was throwing a lavish party and he wanted Brian to attend. He was just about to throw the invite into the trash when his phone rang.
“Brian Petzer” he answered.
“I really wish you wouldn’t throw the invitation away” he heard Lucifer say. “I really did wish to thank both you and Mr. Kostan for your help”
“You’re welcome, but this is not necessary”
“No, Mr. Petzer. I insist. Please do me the honor.” He said and hung up the phone. Brian got the distinct impression that he could not refuse.
Josef rang him shortly afterwards.
“Let me guess. You got an invitation too?” Josef asked.
“Yes sir. I believe it will be in both our best interests to attend” Brian said.
“You know, I knew there was something different about that young man when he came to the house” Coraline was saying to her husband as she slid into her evening gown.
“My darling, you must tell me more of these things. It is all so confusing” Edward said with worried expression. He hated surprises. Always had. Even as a child. But he was finding that life as one of the undead was full of nothing but surprises.
Both Isabelle and Nicole pleaded to attend the party but neither Josef nor Brian was willing to take the risk of Lucifer coming within hair of their wives. But they promised to leave the party as soon as they could.
When Josef and Brian arrived, the party seems to thriving. People were huddled together in small circles sipping champagne. A small quartet played murky, dark jazz sang by a woman who looked exactly like Billie Holiday.
Lucifer saw them immediately and walked over to greet them.
“Well! Thank you for both for coming!” He said in an over dramatic way.
“Thanks for inviting us. Josef Kostan” Josef said holding out his hand.
“Mr. Kostan, you need no introduction. Your reputation precedes you, even where I dwell” he said with smile.
“Nice to be appreciated” Josef smiled backed.
“And Mr. Petzer! Again I wish to thank you for all you have done. I was quite frankly lost as to what to do. It has been thousands of years since I walked the Earth. Things have certainly changed. But come, let me show you around.”
In every room of the mansion there were beautiful women. Most only half dressed seductively smoking Opium.
“Hedonistic I know. But I am used to the old days” Lucifer said keeping his eye on Brian.
A woman wearing nothing but a slip touched Josef’s arm.
“And who might you be?” Josef said taking in her luscious curves.
“I’m whoever you want me to be” She said with smile.
“Good answer” Josef said and walked away with the woman. Brian closed his eyes for a moment. Damn it Josef! He thought.
He sat down in an empty room done entirely in gold. He undid his suit jacket and looked around. A beautiful young woman in a slinky gold gown came sauntering in.
“I’m sorry. I thought this room was empty” She said in a voice that was obviously Italian. Brian hastily stood up.
“No apologies are needed.” He said. She sat down next to him on the sofa.
“My name is Serafina” She said holding out an elegant hand.
“Brian” he said taking her hand.
She was sipping from a tall flute. She offered Brian a taste.
“No thank you. I don’t drink”
“Neither do I. This is Negroni. It is a drink from my country made of oranges. Michaelangelo himself called it the “mother’s milk” For it was the drink of life itself”
Brian looked at the young woman liking the sound of her accent and way her tongue formed everyday words.
“Well then I guess I should have a taste of life itself” He took the glass from her and had a small sip. It tasted of pure oranges, but it had something else….something he couldn’t figure out. But it was rich, vibrant and tantalizing on the tongue.
“Ahh, you taste life, no?” She said smiling.
“Yes, I believe I do” Brian said as he drank the rest from her glass. He felt the woman kissing his neck and it was like nothing he had every felt before.
“Sir, I think we have a problem.” Brian said closing the door behind him.

This could be very, very dangerous!
Lucifer is not the characture of a man wearing a red union suit with hooves, a tail and horns on his head. I think you are probably correct to show him as the embodiment of beauty, wealth and elegance but that is form, not substance. I know some of the Biblical references to his creation and abilities, and what he has been responsible for in history, don't know if you are using that information and background or not. He is very, very smart and has had a very, very long time to hone his craft, and it isn't good for anyone.
I'm worried about what Brian is going to be drawn into. He truly has no clue of what he is dealing with or how to resist. I'm also a bit worried about Josef. Josef is no fool, but still...

Lucifer watched Brian from his office. Brian certainly had the Dragos appetite for flesh. It made him wonder what else he had an appetite for.
Brian quickly opened his eyes and stopped Serafina from kissing him.
“I’m sorry….. this is not what I meant to do” he replied quickly standing up.
“Why not. You are a man in the prime of his years and I am a woman who is willing. These things are easy, are they not?” She said simply.
“Again I’m sorry, but I must go” Brian said and ran quickly out the room.
Brian was standing on the porch trying to understand what had just happened to him when he saw Lucifer standing behind him.
“Are you not having fun?” He asked as he straightened his tie.
“It was a mistake to come here.” Brian said as he turned to face him.
“Brian, it was only a kiss! Surely you have had plenty of those before”
“I am married!” Brian said sternly.
“That I know, but you are now Dragos. All that is in this world is yours for the taking. There is nothing that will be denied to you.” Lucifer explained.
“I have obligations. Responsibilities.”
“You have needs. And it is time that you made those around you know this! This is your time Brian Petzer. Forget all that you think you know. Let me show you what being Nosferatu is all about” he said seductively.
Brian looked straight at him.
“Okay. Show me!” He said finally. The beautiful man nodded his head and both he and Brian were gone.
Josef walked all around the large mansion and Brian was nowhere to be found. He could just kick himself he thought. But then he realized that this had been Lucifer’s plan all along. Now he had to explain to Nicole.
Josef wasn’t prepared for the slap that Nicole gave him when he told her. It felt as if she had taken his face completely off. He slowly rubbed the side of his check.
“Okay. I deserved that. Nicole I’m sorry. I was only gone for a few moments…I’ve called Isabelle and Balthazar. Brian’s going to be fine. You do remember who Brian is?” He said trying to calm her down
“I want him back! Do you hear me Josef? I want him back now!” Nicole screamed out.
“Ok, Nic. I’ll get him back” Josef said and walked away, reminding himself not to ever piss off Nicole again. I t was always the quiet ones.
“Where are we?” Brian asked looking around at the ruins in front of him.
“These are the remains of ancient Babylon. It was once a mighty nation run by the Kassites for almost 500 years.” Lucifer explained.
“I fail to see what this has to do with me” Brian said becoming bored.
“What would you say if I gave to you a nation in which to run?” Lucifer said grinning.
“You mean to rule?”
“Govern, if you will. However you see fit. Instigate your own laws. Your own punishments”
“Why would you give me this?”
“I must say Brian, that it was my intention to bestow this gift upon Dragos, but alas……we all know how that ended. In any case, Dragos was not ready. In you however, I see so much more.”
“What if I say no?” Brian asked.
“Then you say no. I mean no war with you Brian. I simply want to let you know what can be yours for the asking. You are only now becoming acquainted with your “special gifts”. I heard about what you did to those cursed Bangdad!”
“I did nothing but protect Counsel”
“And now Counsel is yours. You’re not even a little curious to see what else could be yours? Brian, I am offering you the world”
“Shouldn’t you be giving that to your son?” Brian smirked. Lucifer laughed out loud.
“Ah, so you have read your Bible!” He said.
“Only the entertaining parts” Brian said.
“Humans rarely get anything correct. Don’t believe everything you read Brian. I choose my own spoil. It has always been that way…. And I choose you Brian.”

Brian said nothing. He simply stared out into the distance. Brian didn’t know if he believed in God. But 10 years ago, he didn’t believe in vampires either.
“I will need time to think” Brian said.
“As you wish” Lucifer said and then they were back on the porch or his mansion.
Brian walked through the front door of his apartment to find Nicole, Gabriel and Zoe sitting in the living room. Nicole jumped up quickly.
“You’re back!” she yelled throwing her arms around his neck
“Yes” He said and kissed her lips.
“Okay Brian, tell me everything!” Zoe said pointing for him to sit.
Brian looked at Nicole. He had never once lied to her and he wasn’t going to start now.
“Josef and I went to his home. He was throwing a party of sorts. Josef left me for a moment. I went into a room by myself and an Italian woman named Serefina sat next to me. She gave me a drink called Negroni. She claimed it was non alcoholic but I think she lied. We kissed. I regret kissing her” Brian explained to Nicole. “I told her I was married and left the room”
“Well this woman didn’t lie. Negroni is non alcoholic, but it is heavily laced with Opium. That's the way it was consumed in the old days” Zoe said trying to make him feel better.
“Well Lucifer found me on the porch and said he wanted to show me what being Nosferatu was all about. Then he took me to Babylon and told me he wanted me to become his son” Brian said.
“His what?” Nicole said.
“Oh no!” Zoe said suddenly jumping up and grabbing the phone.
“Honey what is it?” Gabriel said standing next to her.
“He wants Brian to fulfill the prophecies in Revelation” she said excitedly.
“What is that?” Gabriel asked.
“The anti-Christ” Nicole whispered.
“The end of mankind” Zoe said.

Oh, dear....
Thing is, for some reason I am thinking, 'expect the unexpected' and this kind of an approach with Brian is a bit too...conventional. Brian is a man who has been a different type of person in his past and has learned that vampires are real and he was set on a better life by his encounter with them.

Josef had gotten word that Brian was home safe and sound.
“I would say you are very lucky” Isabelle said looking over at him.
“That young lady packs a hell of a wallop” Josef joked rubbing his cheek.
“What am I to do with you Josef Kostan?” Isabelle said quietly.
“Anything you want sweetheart” Josef joked back pouring himself a drink.
Zoe told Julian everything.
“I’m afraid there may be nothing we can do.” Julian said sadly. For over 600 years there was always foretelling of Armageddon, but after a while you forget about it all, until it stands right in front of you like it was now.
“So the fate of mankind rests solely on Brian?”
“Yes. Lucifer has chosen well this time. Brian was not brought up in the church, came from broken home, mistrusts people and worships money.” Julian said. “And as he is a vampire, death has no meaning to him.”
“Brian would never do this! He is a good person whether he believes in God or not!” Zoe said shaking her head.
Nicole left her office to meet a client. She sat at a table at Jaks Grille glancing at her notes.
“Mrs. Petzer” A seductive voice said to her. Nicole looked up and saw one of if not the most beautiful man she had ever laid her eyes on. Tall, slender and immaculately dressed.
“Uh….yes, I’m Nicole Petzer” She stammered in reply.
“Very pleased to make your acquaintance. My name is Lucian Von der Bryn” he said taking her hand and placing a kiss upon it and taking a seat across from her. “So you are the wife of Dragos! How marvelous!”
Nicole said nothing. She continued to stare at this man. She supposed she expected him to be ugly and deformed.
“I’m sure Brian has told you of my proposal….of course he has. Brian has the very bad habit of always telling the truth.” Lucifer said with a grimace as if the word “truth” was bitter on his tongue.
“Yes. Brian has always been completely honest.” Nicole said. “What do you want?”
“No, Nicole. What is it that you want?”
“I don’t understand. I have everything I need” She began to say.
Lucifer stared at her as if he were digging into her soul.
“I see that you are not as truthful as your husband. You regret not having a child. You want that more than anything.”
“You’re telling me you can give me a child?” Nicole asked in surprise
“Oh yes. And so much more.” Lucifer said then he vanished from sight.

Zoe sat in her office trying to locate something, anything that would help Brian. Gabriel came up behind her.
“Babe, you’re not going to find anything new.” He said.
“There must be something. I wasn’t thorough….” She said still pulling books off the shelf.
“Zoe. Listen to me. These books won’t help Brian”. Gabriel said. Zoe slumped back in her chair. She knew that Gabriel was right.
“I know. I’m just scared. Scared for my parents. Scared for our friends. Brian has had so very little experience with the goodness in life, I think he’s going to make a rash decision.” She explained. Gabriel feared that as well and while he didn’t really believe in God, he prayed to him anyway. Hoping that a boy who never knew love could love the world.
Lucifer sat confidently on the sofa partaking of the freshie that Coraline had presented to him.
“Delicious” Lucifer murmured when he was done.
“You honor us with your presence” Coraline said. “Why have you come?”
“I think the time has come. I’ve been patient long enough” Lucifer said.
Coraline while in no hurry to speed up the demise of mankind, certainly understood his reasons.
“What would you like us to do?”
“You must convince others. Most will rebel against my proposal. I need to find allies. Who do you assume will side with me?”
Coraline thought for a moment.
“I think that Claude Brewster as well as Josef Kostan will side with you. Their love of money and power is too great for them to do without it” She said .
“Indeed” Lucifer said with a smile.
“Nicole. We must speak” Brian said. Nicole looked up at her husband.
“Yes?”
“I need to know where you stand on all of this” He said uncomfortably.
Nicole thought for a moment, then smiled as she stood up and walked towards Brian seductively.
“I think you should take him up on his offer” she said placing her arms around his neck. Brian looked down at his wife. This was not he expected.
“Nic. You don’t mean that.” Brian said.
“Actually I do. I mean what does it matter to us if humans die or whatever else?”
“Considering how we survive, I’d say it matters a great deal” Brian said.
“Well of course there’s that. I’m sure a good deal of the population will be left for that purpose” She said slowly taking off his tie. Brian pulled her arms down.
“Nicole where is all this coming from? This doesn’t sound like you at all!”

Nicole has proven that she can be bought, as well. It is almost always the last person you would expect.
Even though things look very grim at the moment, Brian has been confronted with the results of bad decisions many times in his past. He has been manipulated and manipulative himself.
Interesting to see where this is leading.
Sometimes things are not what they appear. I wish there were someone who could dispel Lucifer's illusions for Brian.

Nicole stared up at him.
“Brian, I think it’s time you stepped up and claimed what’s yours! We have our own lives to worry about. Honestly I’m surprised mankind has managed to live this long!” She said.
Brian had never heard Nicole speak this way ever. It was as if she had changed into an entirely different person. And Brian suddenly knew why.
“What did he promise you?” Brian asked softly.
“Who?” Nicole said looking away. Brian grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face him.
“What did he promise YOU!” Brian said in a menacing voice that left no doubt of his anger. Nicole could never understand why some people thought her husband scary but the look in his eyes right now sent chills down her spine.
“He…p.promised me a child. A child of our own!” She said sobbing in between the words. Brian looked at his wife and drew her into his arms.
“Nic. Listen to me. You can not trust him. You can not trust anything he says. Do you understand?”
Nicole nodded. Brian was furious. How dare Lucifer try to strike a bargain with his wife!
“Zoe. It’s Brian. Nic and I need to come over.” Brian said.
“Sure Bri. What happened? Is she okay?” Zoe asked anxiously.
“Lucifer tried to get to me through her and I just don’t want to leave her alone. I need to speak with Balthazar and Julian. Can you have them come to your house? Nic and I will be there soon.”
“Yes Brian. Whatever you want” Zoe said hanging up.
“Mr. Kostan. Again we meet.” Lucifer said taking a chair in Josef’s office.
“What do you want?” Josef asked through his teeth.
“And this I take it is your Nosferatu wife?” he asked looking at Isabelle
Isabelle looked down at the Angel with contempt but said nothing.
“Ah. I see. This will not be a pleasant visit. Mr. Kostan, I feel that mankind has….well outlived their usefulness. I have named Brian as my sire. The time has come.” He said dismissively.
“And how do you see that working for vampires since we require mankind to exist?”
“Oh we’ll keep some about for that purpose, but you of all people should see that they are inferior in every way.”
Josef said nothing. He knew that whether he agreed or disagreed made no difference to Lucifer. He had the power to do what he wanted at any time.
Brian sat with Balthazar and Julian.
“Mr. Petzer faith in the divine is not something to be mastered. This isn’t like cramming for a test.” Balthazar said.
“Then I don’t understand” Brian said.
“Mr. Petzer. Faith is personal for everyone. No two people approach it the same way. For Balthazar and myself, it is all we have ever known. We grew up in noble houses that were based on religion and faith. And we continued on that path even after we were dammed. For us there is no other way” Julian explained
“But for someone like me who didn’t grow up that way. What shall I do?”
“What do you love?” Balthazar asked.
Brian thought for a long time. He remembered when he was younger he thought he would never experience love. Then he met Gabriel and his parents. Zoe…..and Nicole. And like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz he was suddenly taken out of the darkness and thrust into a world of vibrant Technicolor!

Lucifer looked at all the vampires around him. Each one wealthy and prosperous. Some were simply tired of existing and anxious for the world to end. Others were eager so advance even further into Lucifer’s New World Order.
“Brian will be here shortly to give his acceptance. After that we all must prepare. Mankind will not give up without a fight. But I promise it will be swift.” He said confidently.
Brian walked into Lucifer’s mansion. Some vamps kneeled as he walked past him.
“Ah, see the respect your very presence commands” Lucifer said. “Now imagine the world kneeling at your feet!”
Brian smiled.
“I have imagined it and I decided that I don’t want it.” He said Lucifer turned around in surprise.
“What!”
“I do not want you’re offering. You were close Lucifer. I had exactly what you needed. Broken home, lust for money…It was all there. But you missed one thing. Yes. I was broken. But I’ve since been repaired. I have loving parents and a loving wife. Wonderful friends both vampire and human. So I do not want what you offer. I have faith.” Brian said confidently.
“You stupid fool!” Lucifer yelled and started to walk towards Brian.
Brian stood tall and strong. A new life force was beaming within him and bright light illuminated the room! Lucifer shielded his eyes from the light for he knew who it was. He had lost this round, but he would try again. Time was for him infinite.
