Beautiful.....I think I've worked out the connection.... Mick had a crush on her ( he was embarrassed by the misunderstanding with the stockings, so not a romance, imo.) She is a retired schoolteacher. (40 years worth of students). And he gave her a Christmas stocking full of apples one Christmas many years before.

Back to visit this magical little shop. I'm glad Mick was able to revisit some bits of his youth. And I love the idea of Mick giving a stocking stuffed with apples to a pretty girl he fancied, way back when. Such a sweet, nostalgic story.
