Eternal Circle PG-13 Champagne Challenge #163

Post by cassysj »

This is interesting challenge for me because I didn't really like most of the music in Moonlight. As a matter of fact with the exception of Hungry Like a Wolf from my high school days and the very catchy Ice Cream I haven't even heard 90% of these songs.

I started looking at some of the lyrics posted and these particular lyrics seemed to scream Mick and Coraline's relationship.

1955

Mick returned after a week. He stood outside their…..her house.

She’s crying again. It must be bad Cynthia has come.

“He’s trying to break me. He doesn’t understand that’s already been tried by men far more vicious.”

“He can’t break your mind, body or soul but you let him break your heart.” Cynthia said coldly

“He’s having a hard time adjusting.” Coraline said weakly

Cynthia growled. “Hard time??? If we had behaved like that our sire would have chained us in the dungeon. He’s an angry spoiled brat trying to make the world pay for what happened to him. If you give him an inch….

I’ll take a mile. Mick thought. Hell, I’ll take a hundred. You never should have turned me. It was the biggest mistake of your life and I’m sorry…..I’m sorry I hurt you. I’m sorry I hate you. I’m sorry I love you.

‘Coraline, leave this bastard behind.” Cynthia begged. “I’ll go anywhere with you. We can start over.

Coraline chortled. “With what? I don’t have any “real” money left. You know our sire only covers the mortgage and grocery money. Mick certainly doesn’t make enough…

“Love, I have some saved. The Baron I’ve been with the last year has smothered me in jewels. I’ll sell them tomorrow if you give the word.

Coraline sighed. “Sell to who. Those kind of jewels are hard to fence.”

“There’s a vampire jeweler in New York he’ll……

Coraline frowned. “Not Charles Riley. He hates me. He was the main course at a party until Jonathan Anderson showed up and turned our dinner.

“Well, he has a son in Montreal. He knows the value of old jewelry. Cora we can.

Mick was furious. If anyone was going to leave forever it was him. How dare Cynthia try to break up his marriage? He kicked the door in and Coraline ran into his arms. Cynthia left in disgust. Someday Coraline would wise up but it might be decades.

I love your interpretation of this song lyrics. Great response to the challenge! :highfive:

Oh, Mick--you big idiot! :slaphead: But it's just like him to go back to Coraline for all the worst reasons. :eyeroll: Love this peek into their tumultuous relationship--and I really feel sorry for Cynthia here. :comfort2:

I can imagine 1950's Mick being very macho. You don't end my marriage, I end it. Cynthia is very frustrated with Coraline and hopes she'll outgrow this phase soon.

:ghug: Oh Cassy, I love this. And it shows so much... not just about Mick and Coraline's relationship, but about the friendship that Cora and Cynthia share too. How devoted her friend was too her, how she'd do anything to help her get away from a not ideal situation. But goodness, how stubborn was our guy!!?? It's such a fab interpretation of the song lovely. Thank you for sharing... :hearts:
