"The Big Wheel" - speculation - update 3/10 CM Spoilers
I thought it would be fun to try and figure out what Alex's episode is going to be about. Of course, we know that he is a serial killer and the story is from his point of view and that he contacts the BAU for "help." Also he is wearing a really warm jacket that is used for mountain climbing, skiing or other outside winter activities where it is very cold.
So, the title is the first mystery:
The Big Wheel could mean the head honcho, a low to the ground tricycle, a ferriswheel, a race car, a game show, a reference to a 40s movie with Mickey Rooney, a Marvel comic book character, .... ideas?
If it is spelled The Big Wheal it could refer to a very large hive (OK just kidding).

It could be fun to speculate.
I'm just going to move this to "Non-Moonlight TV," though, because it doesn't really fit under "100% Moonlight."

It's not "The Big Whale"? Then it could be about whale watching in Alaska.

Re: "The Big Wheel" - speculation on CM storyline
Okay...speculation. Never been that accurate with that, but I'll give it a shot.
The Big Wheel...hmmm. Could be referring to a "what goes around, comes around" concept. Or perhaps, "wheel" symbolizes "life." Yes, as in the circle (circle = wheel) of life: birth, life, and death. A serial killer would be disrupting that wheel's path by cutting short the life part and hastening death.
Okay, I sound like a weirdo.

No, Kelly- actually you're probably on to something with that. It would make perfect sense.

OK back to topic... I wonder if it does have to do with the guy who did the hit-and-run... hopefully it's a wonderfully multilayered pun...

Re: "The Big Wheel" - speculation on CM storyline
The Big Wheel can also refer to the outer ring of a gyroscope. The part that turns around the inner wheels. If it all doesn't work properly, the whole thing falls out of balance, kind of like a serial killer's mind games.
And on Kelly's line of thinking, there's an Asian philosopy (Chi Gong / Gi Gong) involving the Wheel of Life and how balance keeps the body/mind/spirit whole. Just like the Dharma Chakra (Wheel of the Law) in Indian culture.

Kelly, I'm thinking the same thing. The "Circle of Life" thing. He's come full circle, or something like that. But then I really suck at speculation, working with hard-core facts day in and day out. But I'm sure we'll get an espisode description soon!

I thought of karma, and the Buddhist wheel of suffering.
Also am thinking perhaps, "the big wheel" might mean a bigshot. Maybe he's well-off and influential.
Also/or maybe he fancies himself as important to an investigation. Or maybe he's arrogantly setting up the team, trying to manipulate them, trying to play them. Typical psycho.

There's always the possibility of a hardcore religious nut fixated on the prophetic "Wheels within Wheels" from (I think) Ezekiel or Daniel in the Bible.

Yes, I also heard about hte Wheel of Life...I just thought it might be a tad too philosophical. But, we're talking about a serial killer here. Anything's possible.eris wrote:The Big Wheel can also refer to the outer ring of a gyroscope. The part that turns around the inner wheels. Re: "The Big Wheel" - speculation on CM storyline
I just read the other thread that the story's about a hit-and-run driver who feels guilt about what he did 3 years ago. Fits with the wheel theme.
I'm guessing from his appearance that Alex is Gil Duckett.
I'm also guessing that if he is a serial killer he's not feeling a lot of guilt. Or, he has guilt because it was not his intended target and he sees this as a separate issue from his serial killer life. Maybe he has a code he lives by, like Dexter.

I think Overdamoon found out that the casting call for Gil Duckett went out after Alex had already been cast so we assumed that wasn't his role.
