So I don't blame the ones who are nervous and some of them are wary but willing to try it... and Alex will do great... but if you're really wanting to see Shemar onscreen, this would be a disappointment for you... so I get their pov.

I'd forgotten how little he'd been in 12:04.
CM fans problem is really with how large their ensemble cast is, not with the guest star. Is Shemar the bald one? If he's your point of interest, his biggest part is the pseudo-phone sex with the computer person on most episodes ("Talk to me baby-girl" is his most frequent line.). And Rossi is dead weight and spends too much screen time being lugubrious. Make him the victim of a serial killer and then the bald guy gets more action and they can quit complaining about being forced to endure Alex.
Even on ML with it's more manageable size cast, Jason seemed underused.

With all due respect, that's kinda harsh. Fans get protective and territorial (see, we're doing it, too! :bat: ). I take it with a grain of salt. It's not "us" against "them". I am sure some of them will come over to Alex's winning ways. And if not, well Alex is getting a lot of love anyway!

Mea culpa.
And I admit I am astonished at the number of fervent fandoms there are. Would never have assumed that the crime procedurals would even have them. Those shows seem so closed and self-contained that you can drop in and out without missing much and the character development gets less emphasis. Live and learn.

Guys I am totally guilty with the crime procedurals, I love them, and for a couple of months I did try the whole not watching the CBS thing. For as much as I loved Moonlight, I am surprised for the fans that didn't watch CBS crime shows. I have loved NCIS, Criminal Minds, CSI's (not so much since William Petterson left CSI), Mentalist, heck I am even starting to like the Eleventh Hour. I will say, CBS Friday nights, has died for me.

I watch most of them, too. I just never thought that a straight crime procedural had that much to talk about. I can see it in our (ML) 'other loves' threads but not whole boards or fic. I just started all this with ML and I could see sci-fi or vampire stuff getting the speculation & creative juices flowing. Straight crime seems too dry. And the shows seem designed pretty much to be self-contained with static characters. I didn't know.

Oh I was totally shocked to learn of the fanbase that CM has! Simply for the reasons you've all brought up. There's no continuing story arc, no character development (except in a vague way), no UST among the characters. I was amazed to hear about YT vids that put Hotch and Prentiss together and stuff like that. :wtf:

And although I totally get that the CM fans don't want to share their precious 43 minutes or whatever with a MAJOR role for a guest star, somebody pointed out on another board - don't feel too sorry for them, they get 26 episodes this year, and have had four seasons so far to see their favourite actors. I just hope Alex wins them over despite their negativity. It would good if some of the diehard CM fans wanted to watch his new show because he got their attention in this episode.

As someone who used to be heavy into Law & Order fandom. The freedom of not having character development is whatever snippets you get you can have a field day with fanfiction. I watched classic L&O not special victims unit. Gale Harold from Queer As Folk guest-starred on one episode and it was a big deal for the QAF fans like Alex is for us. I imagine the SVU regular fans were annoyed at our gushing but I didn't go to their sites.

TV.com added an episode overview for "The Big Wheel", although not much there really. They spelled Alex's name correctly but he's at the bottom of the guest star listing! :wtf:

What's up with them putting Alex's name second to last on the Guest Star list?? First I thought maybe it was alphabetical, but no. WTH??

Looks like the order is haphazard. I'm also guessing guest stars are not considered big news on this site.

Is it wrong of me to not care what order his name is listed, or even how many minutes he will be onscreen?

I have reached desperation level!!!!

Not wrong, just desperate... none of us are too proud to admit we're desperate... but hoping for lots of screen time... gotta hope, right?

I just found out that Oz is only four or five eps behind the US, so we'll see The Big Wheel in May, apparently. :cheer:
