CBS pilot: Three Rivers -- links, articles and discussion

Post by Lilly »

I've copied over the major press releases from the temp site.Image

Rather than having three or more different threads discussing the various stories (sometimes redundantly), let's continue here under one heading.

Alex O'Loughlin navigates 'Three Rivers'

'Moonlight' star returning to CBS with medical drama pilot

Alex O'Loughlin is returning to CBS.

The "Moonlight" star is in negotiations to star on the network's medical drama pilot "Three Rivers."

The project, from CBS Paramount, is about organ transplants seen through three points of view: the doctors, the donors and the recipients.

O'Loughlin will play Dr. Andy Yablonski, the workaholic head of the team of organ donor transplants who is separated from his wife and lives in a motel near the hospital.

Aussie O'Loughlin developed a cult following with his role as sexy vampire Mick St. John on CBS' "Moonlight."

Alex O'Loughlin just can't seem to get away from blood. As has been rumored, the star of CBS' ill-fated Moonlight is thisclose to signing on to headline the pilot for Three Rivers, a new Eye show about organ transplants.

In Three Rivers, each story is told from the point of view of the doctor, the recipient and the donor. And with Carol Barbee (Jericho) writing the pilot and exec-producing alongside 8 Mile director Curtis Hanson and longtime collaborator Carol Fenelon, odds are pretty good that it won't suck.

So what do you think, peeps? Are you happy with the project CBS found to keep the erstwhile vampire busy? (He's already bound to the Eye through a development deal.) Or were you hoping for something with a little more... bite? Sound off below. (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick).

The Doctor Is In: Alex O'Loughlin Eyes Medical Series

We can hear the Moonlight fans squealing already.

Alex O'Loughlin, the star of the cut-short vampire drama, will return to CBS in a new pilot called Three Rivers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. O'Loughlin will still be dealing in blood, only this time as a doctor.

The medical drama focuses on organ transplants from the eyes of the recipient, the donor and the doctors. O'Loughlin will play Dr. Andy Yablonski, the workaholic head of the organ transplant team. His character is separated from his wife and lives near the hospital in a motel.

Carol Barbee (Jericho) will write and executive produce the pilot alongside 8 Mile director Curtis Hanson and longtime collaborator Carol Fenelon, who will also executive produce.

Will you sink your teeth into O'Loughlin's new show?

Thanks Lilly! I thought of doing the same. ;) I'm bringing this one over also, mainly because I think it's important that while we pray, chant, light candles, cross appendages, etc. for TR to be picked-up and go on to be a huge hit, we make sure our intentions include Dr. Andy getting some on a regular basis! :cheering: And I included SS's comment just because it made me laugh.

For the record, I won't stand for Dr. Andy not getting any either! :grumble:
I so whole-heartedly concur! It would be totally fine with me if Dr. Andy became randy Andy every week. ;)

Thanks for the article, mwj!

Called my sister-in-law, people are getting jobs for this show, the word is that Alex is the lead, and a lot of woman are going a little nuts. As far as she knows, no one has saw him, or heard offically that he is the lead, but I thought I read that he did accept a congrats on MS for this part.

Oh trust me lynnrxgal, a know a couple of desperate housewifes that are not going to have a problem doing some spring shopping in Pittsburgh, if we have a :woohoo: , it's a go. Now my husband and I are in Pittsburgh at least once every week or two, but somehow I don't see him helping me look for Alex, sorry.

Okay, as someone who once lived in the 'burgh (bro was born there), can I suggest that someone take a set of binoculars up the Duquesne incline and park your butt on the observation deck until you spot him? :snicker:

There's no question in my mind that Alex has signed on for the pilot. Too many rumours all alike; where there's smoke, there's fire.

If his character is the head of the transplant team it guarantees he'll have a share of the action every week. But meh, I don't care for ensemble pieces when it's him. I want all 45 minutes of Alex on the screen. Is that a little too radical? ;)

Maybe they could design a show for him and call it "All Alex, All the Time". How's that? ;)

The one upside for him being part of a larger ensemble is that maybe he actually will have a more resonable shooting schedule. I don't know how he handled that ML grind. Seriously. :gasp: 16...17....18 hour days, 6 days a week...week after week. How?? :confused2:

Sign me up. Hell, let's be greedy and just go for an all Alex network. An Alex cable access network--24 hours of nothin' but him. Yeah. That'll work.

As far as 3 Rivers--as the lead, he will be working a lot. I foresee lots of Alex screen time--I mean, he's separated--so there's a lot of backstory there. Living in a motel--lots of brooding while sitting alone in his room, perhaps a shower shot or 2. (still being greedy) Not to mention that the man is a workaholic by nature. Anyone know if he is getting a co-producing credit on this as well? I know there was some talk of that in his initial holding deal with CBS, and Bob knows he went above and beyond for ML.

Sigh. Just can't wait to see him on a weekly basis again.

OMG, if they did that I'd have to quit my job and detangle myself from all obligations that demand any of my time so I could sit in front of Alex all day long. Doesn't sound like a bad deal, does it?

Oh just hurt me, mwj. If there was coverage of Alex just sleeping, then I would never sleep!

Ok...I have to agree with GA here. If they did that, I would quit my job and NEVER leave my television set. My husband would have to physically peel me off the screen every night.
