thanks grace.....it'll be interesting to see how Vincent and Andy walk (hope we get to see how Andy walks)....wpgrace wrote:darkstarrising wrote:I gotta ask...is that the way he normally walks? I thought he was affecting that walk for his characterization of Mick....
IT's a good question, but I think that's his walk. In Oyster Farmer he walks that way, as well as The Shield.
I noted his walk on another site and the poster, do not recall who, responded to me and said people have their own walk and it is one of the hardest parts of a person to change and/or disguise.
I have no idea if this person was right, but it's interesting...

I remember reading a spy memoir years ago and the writer said much the same thing - the hardest thing to disguise is gait, apparently.

That is interesting. The only difference in gait that I anticipate from what we're accustom to is in Vincent, based on that body language.

Even in Moonlight, rewatch the scene when Mick and Ray are leaving to go off to war in What's Left Behind. His gait as he was walking away from the Ray and Lila's house is different than his regular Mick walk that we see usually. It's springier and more lively. Not typical Mick-like. So it was obviously something that he changed to show the difference in age.mwj01 wrote:That is interesting. I think watching Vincent in CM will be very interesting. Even the two pics we've seen so far show a very different characterization. I can't wait to see what else Alex brings to the role.
How many days until 4/29?

You're right SS, he did have a little pep in his step with the pre-war scene. In fact we didn't see him walk a whole lot in his pre-vamp days at Coraline's party, but his body language was different and less assured there. He's definitely a very physical actor.

I think that NIDA training has served him well in that respect.mwj01 wrote:You're right SS, he did have a little pep in his step with the pre-war scene. This topic has been debated on the boards as well. When the news first leaked about Alex's casting, it was said he was to be the lead. Then when Ormond got added on, it became that she was to be the lead and Alex is only "featuring" ??redwinter101 wrote:..
As for cast listings, my understanding is that Julia Ormond is the hospital's chief administrator, rather than chief surgeon, and the seniority of that position in comparison to other cast members doesn't necessarily mean she will have top billing. I would imagine that depends on how large a role she has.

Lynne, I don't really think there's any doubt who the leads are. From reading the sides it's pretty obvious that Andy and Miranda are the leads. It's also hinted at Andy's interest in Miranda, maybe not romantically yet, but there's no doubt in my mind that's where they're going to head if the show gets to series. I know you read the sides because I gave then to you!Overdamoon wrote:This topic has been debated on the boards as well. RedI guess they'll both be leads or co-leads but she's more famous though. Someone also posted that the sides read that she'll play a head surgeon, not just shuffling paperwork.

I really wouldn't worry about the semantics of 'featuring' and 'starring'. They're just words tossed into an article by a person who doesn't know that someone is going to micro-analyse everything they say. And as someone mentioned, the roles will grow symbiotically as the show progresses. I just started watching Veronica Mars recently and Jason's role was only supposed to appear in the pilot. They kept him in and he wasn't even in every episode of the first season, but because his character was so popular (no doubt) he wasn't excluded from any other episodes in the next two seasons, so I don't see Julia Ormond as a threat to Alex's screen time. I figure Dr Andy will be dubbed McSexy before the third episode and his scenes will probably grow in number after that.

I always wondered why some people get really bothered about "starring" and "featuring". It makes no difference whatsoever
It's what you see on screen that counts and Alex is going to do just fine on that score
I'm pleased that Julia Ormond has joined the cast. She's a great actress and hopefully it all helps to highlight a great show and that we end up with a full series out of it

Re: CBS pilot: Three Rivers -- links, articles and discussion
I see Julia Ormond's character being similar to that of the man who plays the Chief of Staff on Grey's Anatomy. He isn't in many scenes, but his character is the center of the show in a lot of ways. Even when he isn't on screen, his presence is felt in a lot of ways. Everything kind of revolves around the decisions he makes for the hospital.
And, as always, the amount of time characters will spend onscreen will depend on audience approval. We've seen it time and again, there are some actors that are just magnetic and get the attention quickly of the viewers. Thus, increasing the amount of screen time they get.
Hmmmm, I am thinking that is a strong possibility with Alex!

I bet they change course after the numbers come in on the first show. And I don't mean ratings numbers... I mean the focus groups they do for viewer reactions to different aspects of the show, including the actors. After all the women in the room (and probably even some of the men) swoon over 'Andy' -- his gorgeousness AND his authentic emoting -- I guarantee we'll see more of Alex on screen.

Good, I hope y'all are right. I have to say, in every article that is written about TR, I do pay attention to see whose name is mentioned first but I guess it's just the reporter's interpretation.
Mandy, thanks for sending me the sides. They were too tedious to follow so I just skimmed the parts where Andy's name came up. I'll count on all of you ladies' interpretations and analyses, which sound better. :curtesy:
For now, we'll have to wait 'til the big decision on May 20 first... First things first.

I got a Google alert earlier for a blog about new pilots - and the blogger describes Alex as an "epic hotass". Um, I don't think anyone here's going to disagree
.
She also set out all the new cast members but pointed out that frankly, apart from Alex, who cares? Here's the link if you're interested:

She is also well aware that Alex's name will bring us all running.....
