#7 - Touch

I thought I’d felt everything. Fifty-five years of heightened senses, awake to every breath of wind, every whisper of fabric against my skin, heat, cold, pleasure, pain.

You block it out after a while, harden against its power.

But now I’m ready.

Her first, slow, fingertip stroke over me and my body responds, fresh and clean. She thaws a trail across me, reaching in, sure, urgent, her need meeting mine.

I pull her tight, precious heat spreading, my chill escaping in a shiver as I uncurl in her touch. She holds me and in her arms, I am alive.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I love the sense drabbles. I know I commented on them somewhere else, but not here. You do drabbles so well--they are a wonderful vehicle for your careful word choices, the craftsmanship that makes your artistry even more perfect.

And this last one just makes me sigh. I can see Mick's frozen soul (and body) uncurling in the warmth of Beth. Like a leaf in springtime.

That last one, Touch, made me miss the show in a visceral way like a punch in the gut. That's how your work sometimes affects me. That's why I sometimes don't read your new stuff soon after it's posted. It hurts too much. It's that good.

It's like I'm grieving all over again. That probably sounds ridiculous, but do you know what I mean?
