In the Arms of Death (M/B) G
Disclaimer: Words are mine...anything else you recognize isn't.
In the Arms of Death
We are taught to fear death. Cruel and merciless, it is our ultimate enemy.
I look at him lying there, submerged in the murky water, ice swirling around his fevered body.
He is still; there is no breath upon his lips. I kneel and caress his face. He needs me, but won’t accept my offer of sustenance.
I insist.
His will caves, yet regret and fear burn in his eyes.
Pallid skin and quiet heart, he is death incarnate. He takes my arm, his touch gentle.
I am in death’s cold grip, yet I have never felt so completely safe.

OOOOOOOhhhhh my!
THAT is really cutting thru, in the most poetic way possible, to the crux of the matter, isn't it?
This is really good. Somehow you've wed blunt truth with the most beautiful poetry.

Wow. Stunning. Beautiful. You give Beth such a unique voice, loving, strong, fearless and tender. She's unafraid of getting hurt, because she trusts Mick. This is a true piece of heaven, this POV of the bathroom scene in Fever is among the best of them.
Thanks.
Thanks.

What a fabulous way to put it, Kelly. Yeah, in a fundamental way, she's putting herself into the arms of death in order to find her own life. And she's infusing him with life too. Really beautiful--you're a poet!
