Disclaimer: I don’t own Moonlight, but I love to play with it.
PG-13 for reference of death and one swear word.

A gift, Mick thought.
She called turning him without consent a gift.

He and Coraline had a certain understanding,
they shared years and decades,
but he would never understand that.

She took his life, his family, present, past and future.
She took his choice to eat food, grow older, grow, dammit.
He wanted to grow, but was going in circles.

Nothing she gave him later could ever make up for that.

Then she tried to give him a child,
and again she was more than wrong.

But twenty two years later,
Beth was an unexpected gift that kept on giving.

that is a unique take on Coraline's gift - but it totally makes sense to me! And for Mick - it IS the gift that keeps on giving - which is the best kind of gift!

Love the comparison of what each of these gifts are and what they mean to Mick. As much as I despise Cora, if not for her 'gift', there would be no Beth and Mick.

Oh, Francis--how poetic! And how very true. Beth is the greatest gift Coraline could give Mick. And he'd never have gotten this gift without the other unwanted gift that Coraline gave him. Isn't it interesting how all of those things had to happen just the way they did, for Mick and Beth to be together?

The idea of a 'gift' put me in the same frame of mind as you, francis - Coraline's gift and how it was unwanted (vampirism) but turned out the be unexpectedly good (Beth).

I enjoyed how Mick mentally works through it. He just has to be open to it.

"gift that kept on giving". Couldn't help but think of Beth's blood. Yup, keeps on giving.
