Re: Alex on CM: "The Big Wheel" - SPOILER thread
Well, what wonderful insights you ladies have imparted here. I've only seen the ep once and on a computer at that, so I bet I've missed a lot. I will definitely be watching it again soon and I'll see it with fresh eyes after reading all these thoughts.
I wish we could ask Simon Mirren about Vincent, and get it straight from the horses mouth as it were.

I just rewatched it for the second time. Near the beginning, Vincent takes a white rectangular something, from a pile of them, sets it on the counter in front of the pile, adjusts it just so, and then straightens the pile. What is that thing? I have no idea and am not aware that he then uses it for anything.

I was guessing that was a handkerchief, MLC. Maybe someone else has another guess.MickLifeCrisis wrote:I just rewatched it for the second time. It looks like they are wrapped up in separate bags. I was wondering the same thing.

I know, the ending scene was so emotional! I had a lump in my throat, but was still holding it together until he put his forehead up against Stanley's and that was pretty much it!wpgrace wrote: Ah! ITA Amy... and I don't usually cry! But I felt so for Vincent... he was so quiet, even watching his victims die... and he so totally did NOT want to kill pushy ol' Alice... and he so loved that boy. What a sad sad man... and no one... NO ONE... in that man's life ever had a clue and helped him.
The look on his face when he was shot... he just didn't know what to make of that! And as you said, the ending part... with the boy... OMG!!! This performance is amazing and I watched it again today... so I really LOVED it even more the second time.... Gah!!!!

Yes, it looks like it is taped closed, doesn't it? Though a handkerchief is a good idea. I'm sure he would use a clean one of those each day.

Maybe they're for cleaning his killing glasses.

He's in the bathroom when he does that, isn't he?

In the bathroom scene (in the a.m.) his glasses actually look dirty (ie with smudges/fingerprints) when they are on the windowsill as he is brushing his teeth. My guess is that it is a pile of hankies, perhaps even autoclaved (sterilized). My S.O. is a dentist and his autoclaved equipment is placed in a similar bag.mwj01 wrote:Maybe they're for cleaning his killing glasses.
TAT alert: did anyone notice Alex's left arm tat peeking out of his t-shirt when he is in his kitchen drinking the milk out of the carton??? Other than that, the guy is covered like a mummy throughout most of the filming. Doesn't like skin exposed; doesn't like to see himself (mirror covered).
I would LOVE to have a psychologist watch this episode and comment on it!

The rectangular packets are on his dresser in his bedroom, along with three pump bottles of ???, two clocks and two cylinders (deodorant??).
I wish this has been a two hour episode! There are so many unanswered questions!!

Hmm.... they do look like sterile packets. Maybe that's it. Sterilized handkerchiefs. One would keep hankies on a dresser.
