As you know, Moonlight at first was called Twilight. But there's been very little buzz surrounding Miami Trauma, while Three Rivers has been all of the place in recent weeks, thanks to the recen explosion of Alex interviews! :hyper:
They might be able to change the name but not the subject of the series. After all, both Trauma and Miami Trauma would be dealing with ER type situations which would make them too similar in scope. It would seem to me CBS would be better off picking up Three Rivers if they want a medical show which is different.

Nets set to screen pilots
Presentations look promising heading into upfronts

At CBS, the "NCIS" spinoff continues to look like a sure thing. Both of the network's legal-themed dramas, "The Good Wife" and "U.S. Attorney," also have come in strong, as has the Capitol Hill-set "House Rules." The network's medical dramas "Three Rivers" and "Miami Trauma" have not been delivered, but both have something going for them: "Moonlight" star Alex O'Loughlin and pre-eminent CBS producer Jerry Bruckheimer, respectively.

I just read this article (it came in my google alert)So I guess the question I have is Does CBS want Alex more or JB,And will the Advertiser's go with a proven hit maker or will the go with a Guy who CBS has put alot of faith in? I hope that doesn't sound like They may favor JB over Alex because that was not my intention,But the Advertiser's do have alot to say about what gets picked up right? :confusing:

Bruckheimer has like 7 or 8 shows at CBS already. It's time to let someone else have a shot, damnit! :clapping: The other thing that MIGHT be in TR's favor is that fact that it is being produced at CBS Paramount while Miami Trauma, I believe, is a WB production. So it would be cheaper (I think that's how it works) for CBS to be involved with TR vs. MT.

Hopefully the CBS PTB will be blown away with the TR pilot. I know we are and we haven't even seen it yet! :yahoo: :hyper: :cheering:

Thanks for the linkage, mwj!

Yes, and DVD distribution has a say in whether a show would be more attractive too I think. If CBSPar owns TR, then they are going to get the profits from DVD sales, whereas a WB show would gain them nothing in that area. It may mean nothing now, but could help give TR an edge if they're on the fence.

Heck, this waiting is hard.... :sigh:

Jade, you should have been around this time last May when we were waiting on CBS's upfronts to see if Moonlight would get a second season. And as everyone knows, things didn't go our way. I'm keeping my :fingerscrossed: that that this year's end results will be different. Either way, there's no way in hell it can be worse than last year.

I'm glad this article was posted just to keep our feet planted firmly on the ground. Things in TR's favor are that it has Alex in it, it's a CBS Paramount production, and its cast is better known than Miami Trauma's. If CBS is trying to cut costs, which I believe they are, Miami Trauma would cost more since it's a WB production and they would have to pay WB a license fee. In Miami Trauma's favor, it is a Jerry Bruckheimer production and CBS has a close working relationship with him; however, as I mentioned before, NBC will probably announce later on today that they're picking up Trauma and that would be too closely linked in concept to Miami Trauma so that would work against Miami Trauma being picked up.

As far as the other three pilots they mentioned, I do believe that CBS will pick up The Good Wife. It has a great cast in Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski and Chris Noth (all known names to TV audiences) so that one is a no brainer. A show about politics does not seem appealing to me plus it's being produced by ABC Studios so I think CBS would pass on House Rules. U.S. Attorney is being produced by CBS Paramount so that would be a go in terms of budget but do they really want two legal shows (The Good Wife being the other)? I think they would choose The Good Wife over U.S. Attorney.

I think it will come down to whether CBS thinks Alex will be enough of a draw to gamble on him next season. They took a chance with Simon Baker and look where they're at right now with The Mentalist. I hope they see that, if they keep plugging him into shows, sooner or later they're bound to hit the mother lode with Alex.

But who knows what CBS will do? All I know is I'm stopping at CVS on the way to work to pick up a larger bottle of Tums.

Amyvil very good points and I think you are going to need more than Tums, and if I may add my :2cents: . First of all money will be the key this year, even with CBS being #1, their stock lost more than the other 2 networks. Second, Jerry Bruckeheimer may have lost some of his shine this year, CSI without Wm Peterson is losing big time to Greys, and his new child, Eleventh Hour may very well be done after not even being in the May Sweeps, and let's face it his shows are getting old and expensive. Third, the productions companies, WB verses CBS, that seems very important in today's financial market.

Here is another idea, CBS likes Alex and basically they own him right now, and if they are in love with Jerry, why did they not put those two together? It sounds like Alex was given other roles to pick from, and given the opportunity he chose TR. Here is hoping that after the Moonlight storm, that someone at CBS kinda hinted at a good direction to Alex.

As with Moonlight, there's a lot of variables going on behind the scenes that we are not going to be privy to with regards to Three Rivers. We're using common sense in our assessment, but those unknown variables are going to play into the equation and, in the end, we're just hoping and guessing. May is so not one of my favorite months anymore.

:ghug:

Group hug required. At least, as Susan said, it can't be as bad as last year. If TR doesn't get picked up, we will cry over what might have been and keep our fingers crossed for Alex's next project, but it won't be the wrench that losing ML was. Kind of a "you can't miss what you never had" scenario.

But, I'm trying to stay positive. :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

I am sure Alex will become a huge movie star but I confess I am greedy right now. :blushing:
I want him on TV next year every week.
And I have confidence that TR will be picked up. I guess two more weeks if we can survive
