Things are definitely looking very, very promising! I'm trying very hard to temper my excitement, but I must say that is getting more and more difficult. We are so close!
As for Jason's show, "Body Politic", I've read a couple of articles that hint that the show may be a midseason replacement, so all is not lost as yet. Since the CW is going with only five nights of original programing, there was less room in the schedule then originally thought. So while things don't look as rosey for Jason, I'm going to remain optimistic for him and his show....and wait until the CW upfronts.

CBS greenlights three dramas
'NCIS' spinoff, Margulies starrer, 'Rivers' ordered
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER
The first real indication of notoriously tight-lipped CBS' new series plans emerged Saturday, as the Eye gave a greenlight to begin staffing up three dramas.
Pilots given the go-ahead -- a pretty obvious sign that series orders are imminent -- include the "NCIS" spinoff, as well as medical drama "Three Rivers" and the Julianna Margulies starrer "The Good Wife."
All three shows come from sister CBS Television Studio (the newly renamed CBS Paramount Network TV).
"Good Wife" stars Margulies as a woman who must return to work as a lawyer after her husband is sent to jail. Michelle King and Robert King wrote the pilot and exec producer with Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and David Zucker. Pilot was helmed by Charles McDougall.
"Three Rivers" revolves around the world of organ donors; Carol Barbee and Curtis Hanson are exec producers along with Carol Fenelon and Ted Gold.
Daniel Attias directed the pilot, which stars Alex O'Loughlin.
Then there's the new "NCIS" spinoff, starring LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell. The Los Angeles-set show comes from exec producer Shane Brennan. Pilot recently aired as a two-part episode of "NCIS."
Also at the Eye, while "Cold Case" is still looking good for renewal, the jury's still out on "Without a Trace" and "The Unit."

JIMS, this was posted earlier. All it confirms is that these three shows have been given the go-ahead to start hiring staff. As has already been posted in this thread, in the past that has happened for series that haven't ended up being ordered.
It looks 99%, but there is no confirmation on a series order yet.

It's still good news though and, as the article says, a pretty obvious sign that a series order is imminent.
Lovely word, imminent.

The writers aren't the same for TR and MT. They're different people. Same with directors.VAsusieQ18 wrote:amyvil wrote:WF, if CBS has given orders to Three Rivers to start hiring writers and directors, it's a go! That's just CBS speak for we've picked up the show. Nellie Andreeva (the author of the article) is just referring back to the recent teeter totter between Three Rivers and Miami Trauma. She said it HAD been heating up (past tense) but CBS decided in favor of Three Rivers because they've given it the go ahead to start hiring. CBS wouldn't do that if they weren't going to pick up the show.

But the writers hired for Three Rivers could easily be diverted to write for Miami Trauma. This same scenario happened last year with one of the comedies that CBS was supposedly going to pick up, but in the end it didn't happen. The "dark horse" comedy was picked up and the writers they had hired for the other show were summarily passed over to write for the show that did get picked up. I think the comedy that was passed on was called Single White Millionaire, and the pilot that was picked up was "Gary Unmarried". I would think the same thing could happen here. Again, I'm very optimistic. Just cautiously optimistic.
CBS is notorious for keeping tight lips around these things. If Nikki Finke and the 2 credible publications like THR and Variety all reported the same 3 pilot names, I'd say it's money in the bank.

Oh, any fear they won't cancel enough shows to find room for it on the schedule??
Any fear CBS is just using this as a ploy to negotiate Bruckheimer's price down???
I am sorry... I know y'all are celebrating, but I'm still kinda scared...
I know so little about the process, and it turned out so badly last year...
*still holding poor Red's hand... hoping she'll be able to still write by the time I let go...*

MoonMad, it looks like I had the same question as you, even though I didn't see your post before posting mine.MoonMad wrote:Can that even be done when the shows have different production houses?VAsusieQ18 wrote:amyvil wrote:WF, if CBS has given orders to Three Rivers to start hiring writers and directors, it's a go! I would have thought that Jerry Bruckheimer's people would be in charge of hiring their own writers. TR, NCIS2 and The Good Wife are all CBS productions.
I think this is sounding really positive, but I'm going to wait and celebrate when it's official. In the meantime, this is still making me very happy.
I don't hear anything about Jason's show though, and I think we are going to be disappointed on that one.

I know what you mean, Grace. And then, even when the show gets to the air, who knows how long it'd stay there until ..wpgrace wrote:Oh, any fear they won't cancel enough shows to find room for it on the schedule??

Re: Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 3
Just think, we won't have to go through any of this next year. 3Rivers will be a critical and audience success with numbers big enough to not have to worry about renewal. Hopefully, we will have at least a year off from the angst.
Holding everyone's hands in solidarity, but I am holding on loosely. Because I will be needing to let go in order to pump my fists in the air!!!
And red, I'm with you because everything I have read about 3R is that it is a well-done pilot. That is the crux of the matter-----you hear about so many of these pilots beforehand that are not good, and there hasn't been any bad buzz surrounding this one.
Do your stretches ladies, prepare yourselves for some jumping, fist pumping and cheering!
