Actually, I think we should be proud. There are thousands of stories about the big movies and shows like LOTR, Supernatural, X-men and so forth, but do they write about Hugh Jackman: Isn't that the bloke that people write fanfic about his Wolverine character?
We get noticed for writing about the main character of this obscure show that had only one shortened season on CBS. I think we got something right: We're no longer noticed for being rabid fans writing irate emails, we are noticed for breathing life into a character that was just too good to pass up.
That might work in Alex' favor, too. Having fanfic writers write about your character should show them that he is capable of getting a following.

Agree totally, francis.

(And really would like it if they stop the rabid references.)

I could do without the "insane" moniker, along with "rabid," "slavering," or anything else connoting mindless hero-worship and/or inappropriate personal attention to a public figure... but I do like the way you think, francis. I hope you're right. Thanks!

I don't mind all the other adjectives but that "rabid" has gotten very old, lol!
This article was very positive; he thought the video from the actual presentation was great. Why didn't we get to see it?
And one thing is clear: everyone knows that Alex is hot and talented and has a serious following.
Now, off to some publicity events , interviews, talk-shows etc. let the man speak for himself and the show :hearts:

There was even an interview where he said he asked if he could at least do the audition in his Aussie accent--but they told him no! LOL

I personally don't care what they call us, as long as they keep noticing us; how many shows have a fanbase that is constantly referred to in the blogs ONE YEAR after their show's short season aired and was canceled? And how many times do they say Alex has a built-in fanbase whenever they talk about him? And how much has that helped his career even as just one more factor to consider when making a choice where he is concerned?

So, in my book, they can call me anything they want as long as they keep noticing me and Alex because of it!

ITA, WF!! They can call me anything they want, if it means more Alex time!!

Caught this on Twitter..guess not everyone is as excited about TR as we are:

THREE RIVERS
According to the official CBS description: THREE RIVERS is a medical drama that goes inside the emotionally complex lives of organ donors, the recipients and the surgeons at the preeminent transplant hospital in the country where every moment counts.

According to this TV Addict: With apologies to his legions of dedicated, passionate and very vocal fanbase, Alex O’Loughlin deserves far better than a re-tread of a failed TNT medical drama (see: HEARTLAND starring EVERWOOD alum Treat Williams)

Even if you might whack me on the head or throw tomatoes, I partly agree with that.
Alex deserves better than a washed up medical drama, I suspect it could become boring really fast. On the other hand, it all depends on the writing and the chemistry of the cast, and I have total confidence that Alex knows what he's doing. I just wished he would get meaty roles that showcase his talent.

If you take it the right way, the twitter comment is a great compliment towards Alex.

I refuse to worry about the opinions of critics and bloggers based on a 3 minute clip. They'll have to wait and see, just like the rest of us, how well the show turns out.

Here's Tvsquad's take on TR:

There seems to be a ton of new medical dramas on the fall schedules, including this new CBS show from Jericho producer Carol Barbee. I guess the only question is, can a medical show with such a specific premise (a hospital that specializes in transplants) do enough different stories throughout the season? Never mind - this one has Moonlight star Alex O'Loughlin!

(they are all showing the TR trailer too!)

When I hear from the critics with their less than positive comments, I'm reminded that Seinfeld was panned the first season, and we know what happened there so . We'll see, but I really thought the pilot presentation looked high-energy and seems like it will draw viewers in - and not just for the Alex allure alone. ;)

Francis - agree with you TOTALLY. I just get tired of being referred to as less than normal just because we're huge fans. The fact that fan fiction was mentioned at all shocked the heck out of me. :gasp:

Now THIS I don't mind - dedicated, passionate and vocal. Damn straight!

And - I also am in total agreement with Red. I refuse to get pushed out of shape over a review of a three-minute clip.

My DVR had been set to automatically record Criminal Minds, even though I don't watch it anymore (watched one; it was pretty good . . . :snicker: ). Anyway, I ff'ed through it and caught the 15 second plug for TR.

They mispronounced his name-- :banghead:

But on the upside, the promo ended with that heart-stopping smile.

I think I'll keep the CM ep just so I can watch it again . . .

I think all show premises have been done and redone ad nauseum. Look at CSI. Ad nauseum.

So what makes a show succeed and be interesting? To me, IMHO, it is the quality of the actors and how they react to each other.

If we develop an interest and care about the characters in a show, we forgive little things that aren't great about it! ML, as wonderful a show as it was, had its faults; but 99% of us didn't care because we loved the characters and their interaction; we cared about their future.
I will trust in Alex's ability to capture our love for his character. He interacts so well with people, even in RL, so chemistry from his part should be awesome. He also chose this show and seems very motivated by it.
Let's give it a chance bloggers. We are. :hearts:
