Wow. A gal spends the better part of the day in a car driving through several states, and logs on before bed-time. Perhaps I should have stayed off?
Anyhow: After reading through all of this, I ask the question: are you happy here? Are you happy that you found ML, found this site, and found these friends?

If you can answer "yes" to those questions, then you are reaping the rewards of ML fandom at it's best. Everyone here loves ML, misses ML, and wishes there were more ML. Not one of us can measure our despair as being greater than anyone else's. We are all vastly different people with differing views--which is why a place like this is so successful. Some have grieved and moved on a bit more, some are still grieving.
All are Moonlight fans and friends. That is why we congregate here. Please, let's not forget that.

I love ML for many reasons---one being introducing me to the talent of Alex. I have been lucky to view other films he has been in, not to mention the recent CM spot, and am amazed at his talent. For me, his success in 3Rivers keeps that little bit of ML burning bright. He will always be known first and foremost to us, and his ever expanding audience, as Mick St. John. I am not a fickle viewer, I won't pretend to love 3R if it stinks. But we haven't even seen it yet. That man has yet to let me down, so I am anticipating that if anyone can make a new tv show work, it's gonna be Alex. And I know without a shadow of a doubt, given the caliber of people we have here, that everyone is pulling for Alex's new show to be successful. Because we are a supportive and loving bunch.

I hate that ML wasn't renewed, but I would go through that hell all over again, just to be right where I am at this moment: with all of you.

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head....the magic of Moonlight is that it's inspirational on so many levels and it resonates with a broad range women. You don't see that everyday....

The last time I wrote a creative story of any kind was in college and that was a few decades ago...I had a choice to make in college - stick with writing or go into something else. Guess what I opted to do? In hindsight, I'd have done things differently....and probably been a happier person for it. Why haven't I written anything in the interim? There was no spark, no fire to get the imagination going.
But when I started to watch Moonlight, the spark was there my muse shook off her Rip Van Winkle imitation and came to life. And I am happy about writing again. As Lucky said, as long as there are people willing to read, I'll keep writing.
I couldn't say it better myself. Moonlight has reawakened writing in me and for that I'll always be grateful. It is a great story. It continues to have a life because we have some great writers here who keep it alive for us and many great readers who read, debate and just plain old enjoy. So cudos to Alex and I hope the rest of the crew gets well paying jobs. I'll just hang out here enjoying the ML and the people just like me. :dracula:

It’s always been about Mick.

I believe that Alex O’Loughlin channeled something extraordinary when he played the character of Mick St. John. And frankly, I’ve not seen that same energy in his other roles. It doesn’t take an hour to see the difference. It is palpable, it is visceral – and for me, it’s immediate.

In an early interview, Alex said about MSJ, “I know this guy.” He was that guy.
You "channelled" my thoughts and feelings perfectly. Thanks! I agree with you 100%. The right actor and the right character and show melded into something transcendent and sublime. He was born to play Mick. It's a rare and good thing. :ysmile:

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I've never been a fan before. Moonlight simply captured me. I'm one of the ones Grace was talking about... always wanted to write fiction, but never wrote a complete story until Moonlight inspired me. Now I've written... well, a lot. :) I never joined a forum before, either. Moonlight got me to create Facebook and MySpace identities... in the case of Facebook, several identities. :blushing: I used eBay for the first time...to buy--guess what? Yeah, a Mick pendant and ring. I bought a PDA. I made online friends all over the world. I began being a mod. I became a member of the Bone Marrow Registry. I learned the basics of graphics manipulation so I could create avatars. I started listening to new music again, and discovered a lot of wonderful artists and groups.

The allure of Moonlight was so much more than one guy (or two), no matter how compelling or complex. Moonlight was style--the furniture selections, the wonderfully conceived and created sets, each one illustrating the personality of the character(s) who inhabited it. It was the beautiful use of light, texture, and pattern. It was flames licking through a pile of ice. It was the flapping of a coat around striding legs and the smooth line of an impeccably tailored suit. Moonlight's cinematography was a love affair with Los Angeles--it made me discover things about my own neighborhood that I never knew--or wanted to know, before I saw LA through new eyes. It was smouldering looks that the recipient never even saw. It was love and betrayal, cynicism and hope. It was the idea of guys who can't taste the liquor still drinking the very best Scotch. It was the idea that love can really make a person want to transform. It was the fire of passion and the warmth of friendship.

Moonlight took an audacious departure from the accepted mythos, presenting the idea that vampirism can simply be a physiological condition rather than some form of damnation. It brought to vivid life a parallel civilization living among us undetected, not because of spells (a la Harry Potter) but because of careful, scrupulous organization and attention to detail.

Try as I might I can't really explain it, because it was truly a Gestalt. You can describe each individual part, but it was the way those parts fit together that made Moonlight so much more. There was magic there. There still is magic. That's what I love about Moonlight. That's why I'm still here.

Hmmm... perhaps we could get a group rate....

And I remain amazed at how wonderfully it has brought creativity to the surface for so many writers... amazed and GRATEFUL, may I add... :ysmile:

And Fleur... :smooch: You made it safe and sound!

:notworthy: :notworthy: You put it all so eloquently.

Notwithstanding my comment about my Mick/Alex dilemma, you are so right, my friend, as is Fleur. Alle, as you know, ML fandom is the very first fandom I have ever been a part of, the first fan fic I wrote before I even knew what fan fic was and it is a testament to the show, and the people here that a year later, we still share this corner of universe and continue to commune in all things ML.
