Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 6

Post by redwinter101 »

Time for a new thread.

And we have the second part of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's interview with Carol Barbee (executive producer) to get us going. Here's the link:

thanks for the link, Red. It's nice to see that she's trying to create an authentic Pittsburgh feel to the show....but she was probably wise to not try to take things too far....the people in Pittsburgh might get it, but the rest of us wouldn't

As a Pittsburgher I love that she wants to incorporate bits of the city but I can't believe they didn't have Pens, Steelers, and/or Pirate stuff anywhere. Duh, everyone knows that's the first thing that gets slipped in to every show and movie that's set in the 'burgh! You could have based a drinking game off the local sports paraphernalia and references in The Guardian, lol. And "Bite Me" shirts, how fitting. Wonder if Alex tried a Primanti sandwich while he was here.

I don't know what to think about the Yinzer thing. Part of me thinks it'd be awesome to see Pittsburghese on the show but it would all depend on how it was handled. It could be an interesting bit of local color that helps further define the setting as well as Andy's background. But if it's overblown or thrown in at the wrong time it could distract from the episode and possibly make the locals look like a joke, in which case I could see a bunch of Pittsburghers getting turned off. I know a lot of my fellow students said they'd watch the show just to see our town and I'd hate for those potential Alex fans to be lost because of something so unimportant.

Found the beautiful song that goes with that new promo - it's "Hear you breathing" by Stuart Reid http://www.imeem.com/people/kuIUgO/musi ... breathing/

I like that promo a LOT. It puts human faces on these seemingly "procedural" stories.

I really like this commercial much more than the other one,and Alex is so hot in that final shot. For some reason his hair looks a little longer. This commercial pulls more at the heartstrings and succeeds too. Haven't seen it on tv yet. When and on what show was it aired?

Thanks for the link, dc. And thanks to greenenvy (who runs alexoloughlinfan.com) for posting the clip on YT. I really like this - the warm colours, the gorgeous voiceover, mmmm. And you're right about that closing shot. :melts:

dc,

thanks....just a little longer, with just a hint of curl would be a good look. I know Dr. Andy can't have Mick hair, but the curls are so cute!

DC, great minds think alike. I thought the hair looked longer also, but it would have had to be filmed recently. When would he have the time? Wouldn't it be wonderful if he let it grow a little. :hearts: :thud:

aolver,

buried in the thread somewhere, someone indicated that there was going to be a photo shoot for 3R about a week or so ago...probably because of the cast overhaul
