Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 7
A new thread - and a new interview, from film.com.
And a very lovely interview it is too - from a journalist who admits she was utterly charmed. How could she not be, right?

Charmed she is, Red, but there are some interesting / bothersome tidbits
First, someone needs to get his age right. I know this is an on-going battle (just like the pronunciation of his name), but if his face book page just updated from 32 to 33, then he's probably not 34.
Please, no tomatoes,
but I couldn't help but notice the parallel situations between Moonlight and 3R. The original cast gets overhauled, the original pilot was panned by the critics, the tenor of the show is being re-worked. Not in this interview, but in another, there was an indication that they were trying to 'lighten up' the show a bit. Personally, I think that's a good thing, allowing the doctors and staff a bit to blow off steam, show that they're human. It will also help attract / retain some viewers that might find a steady diet of donor/recipient/doctor angst unappealing.
Sigh....I wish Alex well in 3R. He's an unusual talent these days. He has dimension, depth, charm, talent and dedication to his craft. I'd hate to see him pour his heart and soul into a series again only to be disappointed.

Lovely article, Red, thank you. And I hope his fans all do come out for him... there's just a few of us here... but that 8 million that watched ML gotta go somewhere...

dsr, I share your concerns - although so far, no change in showrunner, so we can hope that's a little more stability. The fact that this is being made directly by CBS, without a third party in the middle (especially a third party in the sizeable form of Joel Silver) must surely help to make the politics less convoluted as well. Like you, I hope desperately that Alex's efforts, which are bound to be all-in, pay off for him this time. He deserves that.
Grace, you just can't get the staff these days, can you? Everyone needs better people...
Red
P.S. I'm pretty sure he's 33.

Is it wrong, just wrong wrong wrong, that I get tickled every time Red mentions (and inevitably snarks on) JS???

Just read the link again in Thread 7
and it is a sweet, sweet interview. He is surely charming them all one by one and I love it.
I'm hoping for better things for Alex this time round - he deserves it to be a success.

I'd like to do more than just snark on JS, but he's just not worth the effort.
Red, you've pointed out something that might just add to the success factor of 3R - no third party. CBS is running the show here, so to speak, and I think they see Alex as another Simon Baker. A marketable talent, that will draw in viewers, one that they'd like to retain and not demoralize (again). That sounds really harsh and impersonal, but hey, for CBS or any of the networks, this is business, strictly business.

sigh....no. It was the phrase that CBS decided to 'cut their losses' with Moonlight that drove it home.wpgrace wrote:Charming, isn't it, Dark?

Re: Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 7
Could he BE any more adorable??
Actually, DSR, I'm heartened by the changes to the Three Rivers pilot. I like the idea they're making him look more like an actual doctor than a sex toy in tight scrubs. I forced my sister to watch the trailer and the FIRST thing she said was "doctors don't dress like that" (she's an ER nurse). The tweaks will only make it better and more appealing to a wider audience.
I'm hoping Three Rivers makes it, but if it doesn't, Alex is getting his face out there, showing folks what we already know - he's talented, he's beautiful, he's sweet and he's not going anywhere.
And neither are his fans.

ITA - the changes they've made are in the right direction (humanizing the doctors, yet making them look like doctors). And you're right, he is getting his face out there and that can only help him.PNWgal wrote:Could he BE any more adorable??![]()
