Many thanks to Allegrita and, ahem... Mr. MLC, for bouncing one of the lines around with me till it worked.
A Trip to the Morgue - G
I make trips to the morgue often – for blood, information, or both. Those visits don’t bother me. But bringing parents to identify the body of their child is one of the hardest trips I ever have to make. Their grief overwhelms my vampire senses and I notice every sound, every sight, every emotion, and every scent.
The rapid heartbeats amid the echoing footsteps; the tired, worn faces staring at the stark white sheet and all it implies; the anxiety and dread; the smell of disinfectant, tears, blood, disease, death and… Beth.
Wait – Beth? What in the world is Beth doing here?
