To be a vampire means to live in isolation.

No matter how many people you surround yourself with, human or vampire alike, you are always alone.

The more people around you the more alone you feel.

You feel the closest to someone when it is just you and your thoughts, or when you are asleep and dream.

Because you can dream that things can work out between a vampire and a human, you can believe there is a cure for vampirism, or that there is no risk in a turning.

You can simply be with each other.

Not a care in the world, there is no time, there is no reason, there are no consequences.

It is just you and them and nothing else.

The line between vampire and human is blurred, as the lines of your bodies move together, neither knowing where one begins and the other ends, neither caring, just being.

And then in a moment it is gone. When you wake to reality and the images and feelings of moments before are whisked away and remain as nothing more then a memory.

You wake for another timeless day of blending in.

But when you see her, when you hold her, for a moment you think, maybe it can work.

Maybe this vampire will get a happily ever after.

Maybe.
