Sad but True –NSTV drabble (Josef POV)

“I'm your only friend who doesn't like you just for your money.”

Well, a little home truth, delivered like a stake in the back. Thanks, Mick, it’s nice to know my wide circle of associates all value me so highly. Although it’s not as though I haven’t thought the same thing myself. You don’t know it yet, but age is isolation, in this game. You get older until all you have left is money, blood, and yourself.

It’s a good thing my back is turned. I wouldn’t want him to see my face right now.

Loved it!
Josef learned to abstract himself from people, not to get used to them, especially humans.
400 years of living would do that, but there's still a soft spot in him.
