I think that "Tick Tock" is the title of the original pilot. Maybe it's being shown later on in the season. (

Seems to me that you'd do better to trust CBS to give you the correct episode title...but then again, what do they know?!

that there will be a "later in the season" for TR)

Re: Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 8 **SPOILERS**
Well, the chatter is that "Tick Tock" may have been re-named "Ryan's First Day"..which would explain the discrepancy. But, there are also 2 different promos out for Episode 3 as well...allegrita wrote:Seems to me that you'd do better to trust CBS to give you the correct episode title...but then again, what do they know?!![]()

Re: Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 8 **SPOILERS**
Well, I am watching 3R for the second time. I haven't had the chance to review all these pages, nor have I gone on any other sites to get info. I can sometimes be persuaded by other opinions, and really wanted to avoid that until I get my own definite impressions of this show.
It wasn't the best show I've ever seen, nor was it the worst-- I will definitely continue to tune in. I am surprised at how much I liked Kate. She is by far my fave on the show...well, excluding Alex, but that is understood, isn't it? I am looking forward to them using Alfre as much as possible. It would be a shame of epic proportions if they didn't take full advantage of her very considerable acting chops. I am confident that we will be getting lots of peeks into each of these characters lives, and am intrigued by that----which proves that the show was good enough to make me care enough to want to learn more about these people.
I thought that the dialogue, character casting/behavior and camera work were really well done. I have to say, that as uneven as ML was it's first few eps, this show didn't seem to suffer from that. Possibly due to a better influx of cash with which to make a higher quality show?
Alex was not only beautiful to look at---again, another thing that is inherently understood---but I adored his light-hearted yet determined demeanor. There were many times when he would say something, or give a certain look, and I would think: "that is so Mick." I now realize that it is "so Alex." Watching ML gave me a birds eye look into a part of Alex's personality, and this show gives yet another.
Shallow stuff: were his eyes not more gorgeous than you have ever seen? And the tongue grazing the lips---have mercy. Eating that donut was a trip down memory lane, and I am convinced that was a gift for ML fans. Don't even try to sway me on that, because I will not be dissuaded!
Extremely shallow and narcisstic stuff: I am PRAYING that the ER nurse named Lisa is a regular. Oh, hearing that voice say that name...can't even tell you what that did to me.
The great part of this show: it is so not an ER-type hysteria induced drama fest. No tomatoes from ER fans, I used to love that show in its early years, but 3R seems so much more realistic---in a low key kind of way.
I thought that I saw posted somewhere here that 3Rivers garnered 9 million viewers---is that correct? That certainly sounds like a decent number to me, but I don't know how that compares to the competitive programming.
Cheers to a solid first episode and heartfelt congrats to Alex for not only starring in a new tv show, but for doing such a stellar job in it.

I just noticed that Amazon would let me put Three Rivers Season I on my alert list to be notified when the dvd becomes available. It has one 5 star review attached to it.

Thanks, Lisa! (I did think of you when he said that name Sunday night.
)
We had found out that the episode was available for free on iTunes, but I don't think anyone had checked Amazon "On Demand" yet. Thanks for the info.

Also coco, he eats donuts, which are not all that healthy aaand chews them with his mouth open while talking, so bad manners there!coco wrote:Oh! A flaw I totally forgot about. Maybe he's not that perfect after all.redwinter101 wrote:Well, Andy can't tell the time (or be on time) apparently...
Seriously though, I'm going to watch again tonight. I want to watch it again, which has to be a good thing - and not just to see Alex but to get a better sense of some of the things I missed first time round.

It's true, Red. I was left wanting to tune in next week so it wasn't all bad and believe me, I want it to be good and I want to love Andy and to have him be a character that appeals to me and who seems real to me so here's hoping his character does unfold somewhat over the next few eps.

Oops. Sorry honey--I meant 'on demand' on the television. If you have cable, at least in my area, there are selected shows that you can access whenever you want and view them for free.
(and thanks for thinking of me! Now, if I could only get Alex to think of me......)

New story in TV.com weekly on the "freshman crop" of shows, which ones they hate, which oones they love, and some in-between.
The good news? They don't hate TR. The bad news? They don't love it, they don't even give it a mention.

Annnnd if you go to the CBS website for NCIS LA, you will note in the comments section that they get very ugly comments... at least as many hating the show as loving it... NCIS LA however, is in a better time slot, so their ratings seem to be higher... but fans don't seem to have fallen in love with it yet...
So it's all what CBS expects and wants and what they'll decide to do with these shows...
Tho I will note, Alex DID keep HIS fan-base on 3R. At over 9 million viewers for the premiere, I'm guessing a huge majority of those are Alex's fans. He certainly is the one they sold and the one getting most of the comments over there. That's higher ratings than ML got, and he can hardly be expected to contribute MORE viewers than knew him from ML... so I would say he kept HIS base. At this point, I think it is the writers that haven't delivered a show that will attract MORE than Alex's fans, and those of the other actors.

Re: Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 8 **SPOILERS**
I posted earlier about what I thought about 3R, but I wanted to share some additional thoughts on the subject.
I've had a couple of days to think about this....my first reaction was disappointment.....after all the hype (and undoubtedly anticipation on my part), it just wasn't what I was expecting.
In trying to understand my disappointment, I compared ML to 3R, not in terms of the show content, they're totally different. Rather, why did ML hook me from the first minute and 3 R didn't.
Think of how ML started - the fantasy interview with the vampire, Mick, his voice over telling you that's how he'd want his life to be, then the scene cuts to a less than glamorous reality of what his existence is really like. In just the first few minutes of the show, you knew an awful lot about Mick St. John and you sympathized with him In one hour of 3R, you knew very little of Andy Yablonsky, save for that very awkward statement made by the African patient about Dr. Andy's academic credentials. That could have been a great scene, but it was diminished by that little bit.
3R is more of an ensemble cast interacting among themselves and their patients.....while the interaction among the doctors and hospital staff was good for the most part, there was just too much going on....you get only bits and pieces of each of the main characters in the hour, and when a show is trying to establish their characters, that's just not enough....what would have worked a little better is if the first episode spent more time introducing us to the main characters, then over time bring more of the patient dimension into the mix. Right now, with the exception of Kate Moennig's character, who did have some background provided, we don't really know much about the characters, so we can't sympathize with them.
Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now. I'll keep watching, for now, hoping that at some point I'll know something about the characters who work the magic at Three Rivers.
ETA - took the survey.
