So I've heard that he QUIT the Shield cause he got Mick... but then why did he fake cry in this interview and beg to be saved??? I know he was kidding, but still... I'm confused about that...

I don't think he had the part on Moonlight yet when he filmed that. I think he was probably still auditioning for pilots at that point in time. I don't think the filming conflict came up until he was assured that he had the lead in ML.

Okay...I just checked one of The Shield forums and verified filming schedules. Season 6 was actually supposed to be broadcast late in 2006 but F/X held it until 2007 to make room for another series or two. So Alex filmed his part in The Shield before he'd even started auditioning for any pilot.

I think that when he was finished filming, he didn't know what the fate of his character would be so he went ahead with pilot season auditions. After landing ML, I guess Shawn Ryan then started formulating the next Shield season and would have wanted to have Hiatt back. Techinically, they still had a hold on him but gave that up. That rumor that Shawn Ryan was mad I think came from Alex joking about Shawn not being happy with him. I never saw any quote from Shawn Ryan that said that he was pissed at Alex for taking the lead in another series. It would have been kind of crappy if they had forced him to honor that hold, thus taking away his chance at Moonlight.

So... after he had sex with his own subordinate and Claudette fired him... they were gonna concoct a scenario to bring Hiatt back?

It really WAS gonna be a case of giving him a wink and a warning and letting him get away with it? Which is just typical and actually COULD have made for some pretty cool drama... and mostly guys watch The Shield so they woulda been on his side...

But I never woulda known about it, cause I only watched The Shield reruns cause Alex was in it... Still, woulda been cool if, after ML was cancelled, they coulda included him in the final season... in whatever capacity.

It really is how much charisma and adorableness the man can ooze in just a very short clip like that. For that we are very grateful.
