From the ideas Simon and Alex had come up with, and hence Simon wrote The Big Wheel with Alex in mind?
It could have come from that: originally it was a guy in need of redemption in a city that needed redemption. He kept the guy needing redemption part.

But I thought he was supposed to be the cop in Feed? That guy's going straight to the devil.willing freshie wrote:jmc wrote: But he doesn't play totally depraved characters.

Alex has said he will only play characters that have some redeeming quality.
I am just repeating what he said in some interview. Maybe he has grown into that feeling.

From what I understand from his recent interviews, I think it's important for him to find some sort of redeeming qualities in the characters he plays. I know that he referenced that specifically with the role of VIncent. And he certainly achieved his goal.

This is probably old news but while I was flipping trough the new EW at a bookstore today, I came across the TV ratings.
It turns out CM was #6 overall from all shows. The first 4 spots went to American Idol and Dancing with the Stars.
The only other show ahead of CM was one of the CSI's .
So, pretty good.

And Lord knows he could have somehow brought a sympathetic quality to the FEED cop!
It would be challenging in a different way for him to portray a strictly cold and evil character. While there were several cold, chilling looks that Vincent gave, sustaining that in a character with no redemptive qualities would be difficult for Alex I think because his eyes are so kind and warm. That's part of what draws you in with him it would be tough to disguise. Or maybe I'm just in love, lol.

Re: Alex on CM: "The Big Wheel" - SPOILER thread
That was the schedule for the week of April 20-26. For this week, I'm guessing that "The Big Wheel" episode of CM will be #11 for the week. Ahead of it will be:darlingcat wrote:This is probably old news but while I was flipping trough the new EW at a bookstore today, I came across the TV ratings.

American Idol (Tuesday)
American Idol (Wednesday)
Dancing with the Stars (Tuesday)
Dancing with the Stars (Monday)
The Mentalist
NCIS
CSI
Two and a Half Men
Grey's Anatomy
Desperate Housewives
Criminal Minds
The interesting thing for this week is that CSI's numbers dropped quite a bit and so did Grey's Anatomy while Criminal Minds, NCIS and The Mentalist stayed steady. This CM episode was up against the tail end of American Idol (top 5 time) and the 100th episode of Lost so I think it did great all things considered.

I have always liked medical shows starting from Dr. Kildair (sp?) and Ben Casey to ER. Don't care for House though.
But CSI's and DH?
I guess ML fans have different taste when it comes to TV shows; for example, last year I thought Men in Trees and October Road were good shows but they were both canceled. So, yes! What do we know?

Re: Alex on CM: "The Big Wheel" - SPOILER thread
Oh I used to watch Grey's too... but it jumped the shark for me a couple seasons ago with the whole Izzy George whatshername triangle... And then the homophobic back and forth *itching on the set between the actors... all did me in.
I never saw either of those other shows you watched, DC... but I know that like ML, they had fervent fans... you'd think dedication and loyalty would mean something... but I ran across a Marilyn Monroe quote today...
"Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and 50 cents for your soul."
Moonlight fans can relate, Marilyn!
